Great suggestion Shapiro. Have every working class young American immigrate elsewhere and watch your infrastructure die as nobody replaces the existing workers...

I have no doubt Shapiro is saying this full well knowing that if they can't afford to live in the US, they definitely can't afford to leave. He gets to puff his chest out like he's a big man with nobody to take his bluff.

Finally! Time for the ai takeover, with no one out of a job

Perhaps Aquamen will offer us subsidized housing in Atlantis.

[-] usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 weeks ago

I love that this joke just keeps on giving

[-] Nosavingthrow@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

I hope to one day live in a world where it stops giving because we've all forgotten Ben Shapiro.

I wish for a world where getting shapirod is a synonym for getting kirked

[-] NotSteve_@piefed.ca 16 points 2 weeks ago

I think he's more saying you should stop existing à la Charlie Kirk

Charlie Kirk really knows how to bring down his rent. It's all about downsizing and not being afraid of basement dwellings.

[-] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

The process is a real pain in the neck though

Bro, I don't WANT to live here. If I could leave I would be on a plane yesterday.

[-] gramie@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 weeks ago

I think he's suggesting that people emigrate, rather than immigrate.

[-] Thatuserguy@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

Lmao look at this nerd correcting a diction error

-signed a guy who came to the comments just to post this too

I didn't correct "in search for" to "in search of", so you still had your chance to be pedantic. I didn't want to be greedy.

Would we be emigrating from america, but immigrating to the other country? Yea I coulda googled that myself but you seem knowledgeable.

THIS IS BEST COUNTRY.

IF NOT BEST FOR YOU, PROBLEM IS YOU.

THIS IS BEST COUNTRY.

[-] knotRyder@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago

In Soviet Russian country joke say you

Not a half bad idea if you can afford it, but building alternative structures as the government and its institutions collapse is the best option IMO.

[-] peteypete420@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

If seeking asylum or parole or any of the other non school/work related status was easier (or even possible) for americans looking to live in other countries, id probably be on my way out already.

Became single recently, and while I still have friends and family that id hate to leave... its mostly paperwork and of course the fear that ill get somwhere else and be miserable and lonely and maybe even homeless.

[-] GladiusB@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

I wouldn't trust Ben Shapiro with instructions to a crayon

[-] humminglady@feddit.online 2 points 2 weeks ago

I wonder what happens when every country acts like this.

[-] NottaLottaOcelot@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 weeks ago

Historically, many rich countries have acted this way. It’s how my dirt poor British ancestors ended up in rural Newfoundland. You don’t decide to board a rickety boat to a place you’ve only seen in pictures if your life is going well.

[-] humminglady@feddit.online 3 points 2 weeks ago

Right, and I really doubt there will be any new 1920's Americas to emigrate too any time soon. I really hope the US can elect someone new. Some of these new candidates gaining traction aren't corporate sponsored, which really gives me hope personally.

[-] NottaLottaOcelot@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

Well exactly, unless we are going back to colonizing other countries, the world is out of room.
