Somebody here said something like, "Can't wait for libs to tell me I'm responsible for a Vance presidency because I refuse to vote for this ghoul." I think about that every time he opens his mouth. Can't wait for all the milquetoast liberal pushback against Newsom's despicable rhetoric to melt away into "Blue no matter who" the minute he is coronated by the plutocracy.

I have an inkling of hope that we won’t see a repeat of that narrative, especially if we’re dealing with poocum newsom. Chuck and Jeffies have really dropped the ball in terms of being an effective controlled opposition IMO the average lib has finally lost faith in democrats.

We’ll still see all those libs go “welp I guess I gotta vote for this guy” because they can’t fathom a nonbinary decision but I think the vitriol towards those who can’t stand the dem candidate will be much lower than it was for Kamala (blue sky not included)

They seemingly haven't though. At least judging by the people I've talked to, in person, and online, people seem about as deluded as ever, trusting the suits on tv blaming everyone else for their losses in 2024.

It three presidential elections with the worst possible choices as candidates in a row as the "safe" choice didn't win them over, it will take something else to bring them around.

It will take a barnstorming campaign, with populist rhetoric and the energy that goes with that, by an aggressive forceful candidate backed by organized groups and a slate of candidates up and down the line. And the odds of getting that are near zero it seems. Even without thinking of assassinations, that we would have to think about if it got popular, but at first we could do the barnstorming in person, at some point would need remote speeches, and our own security. Turn down secret service protection if you get the nomination, or relegate them away from the candidate to use as shields.

They always bring up cost of living issues when somebody dares to suggest that maybe we shouldn't hunt minorities for sport, but ofc that does not mean they will budge an inch on being fiscally to the right of Thatcher.

I feel like if he is actually just tired of the issue he could just get it over with and give trans people rights.

But most of all these ghouls love to talk about how there hey would rather talk about economic issues than pronouns when they really don't. If they actually wanted to talk about populist economic issues they could just do that. Nobody is interrupting Newsom mid-sentences as he talks about expropriating the landlords.

indeed. not being "bogged down" by these issues is as easy as just extending universal civil rights to exist to everyone, instead of getting out a triangulation device to calculate what civil rights you can deprive which minority groups of and still be viable at the ballot box.

apparently newscum believes he can achieve his goals while purging the trans community and the unhoused.

tbh it was a tactical error from Kamala to keep doing that two-hour speech where she ranked all the pronouns at every rally

More focused on tabletop issues, things that really matter — the stacking of stress in terms of the electricity bills and childcare costs and health care and obviously housing costs.”

Lmao they can't and won't even do that. They're just pivoting from being the republican lite party to the republican party 2 the spectre of Reagan Rises

"moderate" republicans when they see a 99.9% hitler democrat: "why would i pick 99.9% hitler over 100% hitler? 99.9% hitler is still too woke"

I don't remember a Democrat mentioning LGBT issues since Biden said there were at least 3 genders. Is he talking about their most popular AOC and Mamdandi or something? They don't want to soullessly emulate the people who get votes?

Technically they do want to soullessly emulate the people who get votes. They saw how Mamdani got elected on emphasizing affordability issues and now Newsome and his ilk want to glom onto that messaging without actually offering actual solutions to those issues.

On the plus side this sort of talk will definitely mean he won't end up president. On the downside they're pushing him so hard that he'll definitely be forced through the primary so we'll end up with 4 more years of whatever goon the GOP puts forward

For every do gooder they lose in the city, they will pick up two nazis in the suburbs! /s

The mythical swing voters, yes, Americans really want to be assfucked by big monied corporations without consent, but just with kinder gentler words and government subsidized lube for the deserving. Crude analogy or no it fits.

We are doomed with these guys in charge and somehow people still trust them.

Democrats continue to be the most spineless fucking eejits in the world.

And the liberals will continue to scream at minorities that we need to unconditionally support them so they can have their brunch and get their TikTok likes.

"Tabletop issues instead of divisive identity politics" is the latest neoliberal shibboleth from Davos this year, in case you were wondering. I've heard that phrase come out the mouths of libs in the US, Canada, and the UK all in the last month.
