guests download the EVA AI app, create a customizable AI companion and join the cafe’s waitlist.

That's a generous assumption that there will be a waitlist.

I think you underestimate how popular AI dating has become lately.

Listen, some of us are trying to stay sane

I honestly worry about this as much as I worry about the impact of generative AI on education and critical thinking.

Social media already constantly screws with our heads and tries to manipulate our emotions to drive engagement, adding AI dating to the mix is going to fuck some people up real bad in terms of mental health, emotional stability, and social skills.

You can tell by her body language that she's uncomfortable sitting with an AI psycho

I dunno, may be one of the first really good applications of AI

Just make sure to physically block the ability to bite....

Greetings. Fisto is programmed to please.

Give it a while. This is absolutely where it's heading.

Once it's acceptable, or at least understandable, for people to have an "AI romantic partner" you'll start seeing more mainstream ads for devices that let you "take your relationship to the next level."

I mean, it's harmless fun to open yourself up emotionally to a manipulative, sycophantic, cloud-based homunculus with no real assurance of privacy and then feed it tons of blackmail material each time you want to jerk off, right? What could go wrong?

Oh, this is a lot sadder than I initially thought. I thought this might be 2 humans somehow interacting on a date with the help of AI, but this is for 1 human interacting with their AI bot in a date environment. This is a sad reflection of where humanity could be headed.

Don't fall in love with a chatbot.

Don't do it.

It's not going to help anything.

[-] magnetosphere@fedia.io 3 points 2 months ago

At least it’s a pop-up, and not something intended as a permanent business. If it does well enough, though…
