Played it on DOS. However, I never finished it, because the music level was such a bastard. Any kind of traction between Rayman and the ground was gone, so you're slipping and sliding everywhere, and when you weren't, you were basically running into spikes. To top it off, the level layout was confusing as hell. Eventually, after many attempts, I got to the boss of the music level. Once. And just like the levels preceding it, the boss was hard to beat, too! In the end, I got frustrated and just bounced off.
Never played any of them!
I played Rayman 1 only because I rented... Some old ass CD rom console back in the day from the local store and the rental basically also came eith every game they carried for the system and that included Rayman. Don't remember what console it was tho... Sega Saturn? Jaguar? The only 3 systems I ever rented were those two and a Philips CD-I and I am pretth sure it wasnt the CD-I that had the game.
Rayman 1 was on Jaguar as well so mustve been that :P
I skipped Rayman.
Except for playing a demo. Not sure if it was on my 3DS (likely) or on PC.
Ubisoft should have playtested Rayman 1 because the versions I have played they are terrible and I have played the Saturn version.
I technically skipped it because I encountered Rayman 2 before Rayman 1.
The first installment feels harder considering it uses a limited-lives system (alongside saved games), while the sequel seemed to give unlimited retries (even if you have to restart the level). And with the modern Rayman games, the first game feels like wouldn't be as interesting or approachable.
@RetroHax I didn't skip Rayman but I did see it. The reason was I didn't have a PSX in the mid 90s.
For me most of my PS1 Gaming was actually through Pirate Discs or Emulation considering my Dads PS2 wasnt chipped i could only play them at Dads Cousins House really >.>
