i genuinely don't know what will win out between it being a direct insult to biden or biden riding-and-dying for israel.

There are a lot of things people should riot about, but the spirit of most Westerners is so completely broken that the idea of fighting for their rights is absurd to them. It doesn't even cross their minds as an viable option. A people so entirely cucked by capitalism.

I'm still waiting for my promised $2k stimulus check.

They should also cut the budget for sanitation. Actually, no. Cut funding for everything and send it all to Ukraine and Israel.

Are most people just in some sort of catatonic state at this point?

ignorance is bliss, if you talk about problems you are disruptive and 'political' (unlike getting your rights taken, thats just business)

Not that it especially matters, but the IRS budget is unrelated to Social Security.

Kinda. Taxes pay for it. Less money to go after corpos and ceos not paying taxes will easily become a reason to cut SS

Taxes pay for it.

US federal taxes don’t pay for anything, ever. To understand why, you might try starting here or here or here or here.

Less money to go after corpos and ceos not paying taxes will easily become a reason to cut SS

It’s a bullshit reason, but you’re right that it’s the rationalization they’ll continue to try to use.

https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2023577

226 Voted for the bill, 196 Voted against.

12 Democrats voted in favor of the bill: Angie Craig (Minn.), Donald G. Davis (N.C.), Lois Frankel (Fla.), Jared Golden (Maine), Josh Gottheimer (N.J.), Greg Landsman (Ohio), Jared Moskowitz (Fla.), Darren Soto (Fla.), Haley Stevens (Mich.), Juan Vargas (Calif.), Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fla.) and Frederica S. Wilson (Fla.)

2 Republicans voted against the bill: Thomas Massie (Ky.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.)

Biden has the opportunity to veto the bill. but I'm inclined to believe that he won't.

Absolutly nonexistent MTG W.

Well he already said he was gonna veto it...

...but I actually agree with you. Biden vetoing Israel funding? hah, fat chance.

Just rub this article in Liberal faces if he ends up not going for a veto.

The IRS is saying that the republican israel bill would cut $90 billion for IRS revenue.

In Biden's proposed bill, he wants to give $61 billion to Ukraine, $14 billion to Israel for "defense", $14 billion to US Mexico border security, and $4 billion to "Countering China's influence in developing countries and Indo-Pacific". Biden's bill only requests $9 billion for "Humanitarian Aid", which is not even limited to Gaza or Palestine.

Biden said he would veto the republican bill because he wants to spend over $90 billion on war and maybe Palestinians get a fraction of $9 billion for food and medicine.

This has to be deliberate self-destruction at this point, intended to reduce the ability to collect taxes later. doomer

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Wasn't the Senate dead set on Ukraine funding with this? And it's well short of the hondo billy Biden asked for
