Discovering that I can, with measure, work a half day this morning without paying too dearly for it.
Recovery is slow, I was afraid I wouldn't achieve it.

Seeing my puppy dog run around with his toy like he has no cares in the world.
I was much happier before I woke up.
Waiting to board a plane and then I'm going to nap so hard. I should get some jet engine wash tracks for sleeping normally at home. I am usually asleep before the plane takes off.
a white noise app will do the same thing. brownian noise to me is basically the same as being on a plane
Favourite part is always reading in a hot bath in silence at the end of the night.
Coffee
Watching my cats fly halfway across the room in pursuit of their toys and then having them lay down by my side asking for cuddles. Adopting them a few weeks ago has given my life so much meaning and joy.
I've been getting rid of stuff and moving towards minimalism. Today I made a lot of progress, and it really shows, it feels more peaceful and quiet in my bedroom. Also, the dog is sleeping next to me. It happens every night, and every night it brings me a little joy. 💜
Oh how I miss that 💔 Mine passed away two years ago, and I used to love it whenever we slept next to each other. Sometimes, mine even liked to rest on my pillow like a human. I keep having this recurrent dream about her mysteriously coming back to life (which is funny because her remains are ash) and it breaks my heart every time when I wake up. I know that you already do, but please cherish these moments with everything that you've got! Observe as many details as you can like the facial features, the size, the ears, the softness of the fur... One of my many fears is that I'll forget what my dog looked like and felt like.
Sorry if this is melancholy, but I just had one of those dreams last night and your comment moved me.
Just noticed my orchids are spiking this morning! It’s one of my markers that the days are indeed moving and that spring is inching closer.
Got covid and flu shots Saturday and that took me out all weekend. Today I felt good enough to distribute the new moss around my turtle enclosure. According to their new meters, it's 85f and 95% humidity which is just where they want go be. I've been watching them tromp around and bask.
I had a bit of a rough time with my first civ pro reading, but the professor was amazing. Like I had a moment where I reflected in amazement that the horrible reading and awesome lecture covered the same material.
When my babies napped on my belly, I would fall asleep immediately. Got one hand on their back that wouldn't move, and zzzzzzz
Hasn't happened yet. I think my favourite part of any day is when I get into bed to go to sleep, and I drift off. It's so peaceful.
Second to that, that first cup of coffee. And my breakfast which is scrambled eggs with garlic and some other protein (I mean besides the eggs, not that garlic is protein) mixed in. Usually it's turkey sausage. Sometimes it includes cheese. Generally whatever I have in the fridge.
As far as keeping Lemmy going... I see a lot of people making posts, and reposting them to more communities or instances. That's fine, I guess, cast a wide net, but I think generating conversations is more important. So, thank you for that.
Walked home through the snow today, it was really beautiful.
Ate cake for breakfast.
No lack of content for my usage needs. I mean I would love for all the neat little niche things to be here.

Eating some bread and drinking a ramune.

I had overseas relatives visit over the weekend. It was nice to have the house feel actually lived in and less quiet.
Got a couple of 50ft, high-speed Ethernet cables delivered today. Spent the whole afternoon moving boxes and furniture so I could hide them from view.
Going for a hike with my partner and dog.
I've been doing a daily music idea creation challenge, and I was pretty happy with how today's turned out!
I opened up my PC to find a 8TB SSD I forgot to plug in somehow...
Was dreading getting more storage for my jellyfin server, but now I don't need to xd
What a wholesome thread, people around the world sharing what makes them happy, I could relate to it all. Makes you see that we are all basically the same
When I got really fucking high and played video games.

As for me, today’s the day I’m leaving my job. In about 4 hours, I’ll be done. Then, with a 4-day Pongal holiday ahead, I’m devoting all that time to one of my dream projects. Once the break is over, I’ll start looking for a new job. Feeling excited and ready for what’s next!
I went to the Franklin Institute! It was still cool! I somehow do not remember the huge train despite it being there since like the 1930s! I did remember the walk through heart! Still there! Still cool! Too fat to fit though!
Lots of kids but I survived. Kids are more tolerable when at locations meant for kids!

Taking an exam about copyright, it was easy
Installing lubuntu to my old laptop
I just woke up so I'll talk about yesterday. I made a very solid self-development plan for 2026 and I feel proud of it. I have general anxiety so I tend to overthink and overcomplicate things, but I think I kept it as minimal and realistic as possible. I'm trying to focus on progress over perfection, so I feel relieved not to have the pressure to be "done" by the end of every month. I'm mainly doing this because it helps to know what comes next and that I'm waking up every day with a plan. Otherwise, I get overwhelmed with what to do and experience executive dysfunction. So I'm happy that I took some time for myself, reflected deeply, and invested in my future :)
My favourite part of today is about to come in half an hour when we eat the burritos for which we prepared the filling in the morning today
Reading Connected Places and being reminded that thr Fediverse is truly one of the greatest technical-social innovations in recent history. And we get to be part of it :)
