Fascism out in the open? Best I can do is a Disney boycott.

Roughly 1500 canaries have died in the coal mine at this point

[-] [email protected] 11 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

My neighbor told me the mine keeps killing his canaries so I asked how many canaries he has and he said he just goes to the shelter and gets a new canary afterwards so I said it sounds like he's just feeding shelter canaries to the mine and then his daughter started crying

[-] [email protected] 4 points 4 hours ago

The coal mine was literally converted into a canary processing facility like a decade or two ago, by now. Which sounds bleak, but the bright side is so much delectable canary meat.

You 🤝 Fascists

"The important thing is, we own the libs"

[-] [email protected] 31 points 8 hours ago

Why do we do this to ourselves!? Nothing is ever good enough. Can't it be enough that we agree with each other? Why are we gate keeping awareness?

[-] [email protected] 3 points 2 hours ago

Purity check is way more important than building the better world. Building the better world is hard, hating libs for not being your flavour of socialism is easy, satisfying, and makes you look cool to your peers (until you slip up and now you're the lib)

This is just another divisive post to stir engagement and outrage. I doubt the tweet in the screenshot is even real..

[-] [email protected] 11 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

Seriously, if we want to win, we need converts. Welcome them with open arms. Help them to understand and teach them that this is part of a larger trend. Not everyone is a chronically online political weirdo.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 5 hours ago

Yeah, I agree. Most of the country has been negatively impacted by the people in power. This does include the D politicians but especially includes the current R politicians.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 4 hours ago

We are all in the same boat.

[-] [email protected] 14 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

Anything cishet white male anti fascist awakening is welcome at this point. And honestly at any point.

[-] [email protected] 188 points 17 hours ago

I fundamentally disagree with this kind of take. If someone is having their 'oh shit' moment because a mainstream media figure is being targeted by the regime, that's good. Don't dunk on them for not reacting sooner just to make yourself feel cooler than 'the libs.'

[-] [email protected] 4 points 5 hours ago

You know what, I'm guilty of this exact thing. I've been pissed because this has been obviously fascism for sometime now, and it angers me how much it feels like I'm one of the few who paid attention to history while the ignoramuses acted like I was overreacting.

However the truth is you're right. I turned my anger on late coming allies and vented my frustration unfairly in their direction. Ultimately it's better late than never and every ally counts in the fight against fascism. After all a lot of us are about to die, or worse.

[-] [email protected] 70 points 15 hours ago

the best time to start protesting against the fascist takeover of our government was 40 years ago. the second best time is today

[-] [email protected] 23 points 13 hours ago

Like many things, not starting when you should have doesn't make starting later worthless.

Not sure libs get to complain about the lightest bit of ribbing when they've been warned about this for years. Not sure libs get to complain about the lightest bit of ribbing when they've enabled people being 'disappeared' off the streets. Not sure libs get to complain about the lightest bit of ribbing when they still take no accountability for the world being the way it is

100%, embrace them for waking up to the nightmare. We need all the help we can get and you damn well know it.

[-] [email protected] -4 points 5 hours ago

Hard disagree. The US is cooked. Arguably it's been cooked since the election, but there was a world in which the US public banded together and blocked the regime from taking any effective action. But now that Trump has consolidated power and set all kinds of precedents that fascism will be answered by nothing crickets and ass-licking, there's no stopping him through legal means anymore.

So please allow me to regard these "oh shit it that bad?? :((" people with the highest level of disgust and contempt. I don't owe fascist enablers anything. Just like I don't owe anything but contempt to the Germans who woke up a morning of 1936 and realized "hey guys maybe we fucked it".

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 hours ago

Right, you give up so you then play directly into their hands by enabling the left divide. You've become another fascist enabler.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 4 hours ago

right, and so your proposed solution is to drive the people who had their realisation away, so the strategy of divide and conquer can continue to bear fruit? makes sense....

We’re saturated in information and it’s easy to see so many sources. Some people do accidentally find themselves in echo chambers but you won’t much hear of them because they don’t go online often.

It’s anyone on this planet’s job to follow news and be connected with how their country is being run. You don’t need to be a political scientist or economist but if a US citizen who was being responsible only just now figured out that something is wrong they are objectively pretty stupid. Stupid doesn’t mean undeserving of love or security or anything like that but oh my god do not tell me I’m the bad guy for being so fucking tired of this shit.

[-] [email protected] -1 points 6 hours ago

Having a mainstream media figure and placing them on pedestals are how you got to this situation in the first place and not just once, but twice.

But hey, continue playing on that theatre.

I agree that we shouldn't glorify a comedian.

Still, it is good that this event is in the spotlight. I, as non- US citizen, even looked up what he actually said.
There is nothing that could even be considered defamatory.
This is very scary, independently of your beliefs.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 6 hours ago

You just took that strawman and ran all the way with it, didn't you?

[-] [email protected] 3 points 13 hours ago

It can be really frustrating when you've been fighting wiþ said person for years about þe issue, when if þey'd just listened and used þeir brain, and voted differently, we might not have gotten to þis point in þe first place.

Your keyboards all messed up btw, seems to be combining t and h into archaic nonsense for some reason.

Better late than never

[-] [email protected] 13 points 13 hours ago

They may have taken my circuses but if they take my bread then I’ll really get upset

[-] [email protected] 8 points 13 hours ago

That's in process. The tariff wealth transfer will take time, but they are trying to accelerate it all by implementing a 30% national sales tax.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 13 hours ago

Sigh… guess I’ll just have to eat cake then. The rich are off of the menu.

I remember people in my twenties telling me imperialism didn't end and I was like I guesss? Idk tho... But now I see it.

Point is someone's always late to getting woke, even if you clocked it twenty years ago, Panthers clocked it before that. And on and on.

Toilet Paper USA robbing Kimmel is not cool.
