There is literally no winning for Palestinians. Their slow death is ignored, and their resistance is condemned.

[-] [email protected] 59 points 2 years ago

I don’t care about what westerners condemn

[-] [email protected] 21 points 2 years ago

Because you've seen what they applaud?

[-] [email protected] 70 points 2 years ago

My instinct was to make a joke about libs performatively supporting things instead of materially.

But in this case, I prefer they don't actually provide any material support. So good work libs. You're being so brave rat-salute

Don't jinx this I'm pretty sure libs have collectively crowdfunded literally dozens of millions of dollars into Ukraine

Just my coworkers alone have crowdfunded over 5k to deliver medical supplies to the Ukrainian army

I condemn the violent actions, anyway here’s a thousand bucks to Nazi thugs and another thousand to Apartheid thugs

Boy we went from "slava ukraini" to "...slava israeli?" real quick.

[-] [email protected] 34 points 2 years ago

It's just "Heil Hitler" at this point

[-] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

They’ll be doing that in about a year.

Goldfish memory westerners only have enough short term memory space to remember one overseas conflict at a time.

[-] [email protected] 67 points 2 years ago

Would it be in bad taste to hope for another passenger jet /j

[-] [email protected] 27 points 2 years ago

idk but i came here to say i was praying for planes

[-] [email protected] 11 points 2 years ago

Ehh it wouldn't do much. A b25 bomber actually hit the empire state building in 1945 and the building is still there. It's a much more robust structure than the wtc.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago

huh, interesting! i did not know about that. admittedly, it sounds like a problem that could be solved by adding more plane to the equation

[-] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago

second-plane "a fifteenth plane has hit the empire states building, it still hasn't fallen over yet"

Yeah, but only because of the passengers.

Imperialist solidarity.

[-] [email protected] 61 points 2 years ago

And like most Liberal efforts, it's half-assed and meaningless

One fuckin' hour of light?

[-] [email protected] 40 points 2 years ago

This is not even quarter-assed

My favorite cringe story about lighting things up in the colors of a nation's flag is when Sweden at the start of the Ukraine war made the baffling decision to show solidarity with Ukraine by lighting up city hall and the Stockholm subway in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. The problem with this is that the Ukrainian flag has the exact same colors as the Swedish flag, and since the lamps had already been installed for years they just turned them on on their default setting, just like they had done about once a week whenever there was any kind of national event, no matter how small. But this time it was for Ukraine, not a friendly football game against Slovakia or the queen's birthday or a Eurovision song contest or any of the other reasons they had turned on those exact same lights hundreds of times before. And THAT is how you do a TRULY empty gesture folks.

the queen's birthday

This is a huge tangent but I always find it funny when I'm reminded Sweden has a monarchy

I'm mad at Ukraine for slightly ruining blue and yellow for me, my favorite color combination my whole life. At least I procrastinated long enough on getting the neat blue and yellow camo pants I wanted thats it's no longer an issue

[-] [email protected] 22 points 2 years ago

They are also the colors of the EU flag!

...I'm sorry. I realize that I am further ruining your perfectly harmless enjoyment of a pretty nice color combination.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago

Blue and yellow also belongs to the shittiest Planetside faction

Has anyone checked in on Eve Fartlow since this started?

[-] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago

The Israeli embassy account posted a bunch of these pictures on Chinese social media and the caption "we hope China stands with us" and it resulted in massive backlash with comments like "Eight Nations Invasion countries", "does someone have a QR code for donating to Hamas" and "Berlin, Rome, Austria, looks a bit familiar". I guess there's solace in knowing stuff like this is driving people in global south countries towards supporting Palestine more.
