I'm genuinely sick of seeing his face, hearing his voice or even being told by the news about the new stupid shit he said today. I'm sick of the people who idolize him when it should be so blatantly obvious to anyone with even a shred of human decency that every word in OP's post is accurate.

This man is the embodiment of our inadequacy as a species.

[-] hancock@retrolemmy.com 33 points 9 months ago

Getting you overwhelmed is a strategy do not give in its tough seeing every single day something cruel and stupid. I am tired of him too. But i won't block or filter him. We should not look away.

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 24 points 9 months ago

Don't bury your head in the sand, but also know your limits. It's okay, and even desirable, to unplug from what's going on in the world for the sake of your mental health from time to time.

[-] Lemminary@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

Yup, we need to listen selectively and not read or post every single stupid and inflammatory thing he does.

[-] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 9 months ago

It's so fucking exhausting. I feel like the past 6 months has taken several years off my life.

Same here. I intentionally cover his face with my thumb whenever I can. I loathe the way he speaks, the way he looks, and the way he talks over the people he's talking to, including Fox hosts who are doing nothing but licking his asshole. I can't wait for the day he expires.

[-] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

Just 3 and a half more years to go.

If we're lucky.

More than likely he's here to stay once he gets rid of elections.

That was the main reason why I was pissed off at his first and then again second election. Even here in Europe he was going to dominate the news cycle every single fucking day. And we are all dumber for having to listen to his incoherent blabbering.

[-] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.ca 10 points 9 months ago

When Biden won in 2020, I was so relieved. He wasn't my pick in the primary, but the news wasn't a constant stream of embarrassment and frustration. I hate that he's back and so much worse.

[-] MellowYellow13@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

As a nation you mean, not a species. I've been to so many countries where this man would never have made it to anything let alone fucking president. Trump didnt happen out of a vacuum, there is a very real fascist ROT in the core of the United States that needs to be dealt with once and for all.

This is beautiful. The only problem with this, and Jack White's recent trump comment, is that they have too many words. Meaning republicans will never read them.

[-] makyo@lemmy.world 17 points 9 months ago

If they even could read

[-] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

What was Jack White's recent comment?

Edit: Found this: https://www.the-independent.com/arts-entertainment/music/news/jack-white-donald-trump-white-house-oval-office-b2811499.html

On Monday (18 August), White House communications director Steven Cheung said in a statement to The Independent that White was “masquerading as a real artist”

Bahahahahahaha... Imagine anyone going to Steven fucking Cheung for insight about art. Fucking clowns.

How long until we start hearing about "degenerate art"?

With "too many words" you mean it has more than two?

[-] Oyml77@lemmy.today 10 points 9 months ago

MAGA rally cries are usually 3 words, but yeah.

That's because they don't need to read them, just repeat them from hearing.

Just a reminder that less than 25% of Americans “voted” for Trump. And there exists real possibility that he cheated the election. A recent NSA audit shows Harris won.

Also, Trump is a child rapist.

[-] Soup@lemmy.world 21 points 9 months ago

People keep pointing out stuff like this but a country that has even the barest amount of collective sanity wouldn’t have even let him get beyond the party primary. 25% is a staggering number. Ya’ll I know that it still matters to say it and I’m not saying to stop but I keep hearing it in a context that heavily implies the rest of the world is ignorant for “not getting it” when we definitely already know there are good people in the US. Like, yea, you’ve got a handful of decent people but even your large number of “moderates” are capitalist Nazi sympathizers so…

At this point, the reaction (and non-reaction) of the general public has been enough to show me that there is tacit support. Each group has their "red line," I imagine, where they'll suddenly give a shit when their gardener gets deported or whatever... But somehow we haven't hit that line yet for most people, and it's fucking depressing.

86 million people did not vote, so they were ok with him too. you can't just watch a fascist get elected and claim innocence.

I did the math. I’ll see if I can find it. It wasn’t 25%, so I don’t know where that number comes from. My number was ~32%, and I can’t remember if that was % population or registered voters.

E: Found it, it's 32% of the adult population, conspiracy theory notwithstanding.

Most Americans did not vote for Trump.

Here’s how it works:

*US Population, adult over 18: ~250 million.

*Of that population, ~244 million are eligible to vote.

*Of eligible voters, only 63.9% voted.

*Of the 63.9%, less than half, 49.8%, went to Trump. To re-emphasize that point, Trump did not get more than 50%.

*Harris got 48.3%

*The ~1% difference voted third party.

The math is pretty basic. 63.9% of 250 million is 159.7 million voting, 49.8% of that voting for trump is 79.5 million.

So out of 250 million, ~32% actually voted for trump. The rest is the issue with the electoral college, but we’re talking people, not the EC.

He was elected, after all, by more than half of the american voters. They either voted for him or didn't want to vote (implying that he was ok as a president).

So yeah, he IS the personalization of what a huge portion of america is.

[-] iN8sWoRLd@lemmy.world 36 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Minor correction: Trump won with less than half of registered voters, which is only 30% of eligible voters (over 18)

2024 election results as of Jan 15, 2025 (AP News)

77,303,573 votes (49.9%) - Trump : 23% of pop, 30% of eligible (18+), 45% of reg *

75,019,257 votes (48.4%) - Harris : 22% of pop, 29% of eligible (18+), 44% of reg *

337,375,114 - US Population as of Nov 6, 2024 (Census.gov)

*note the number of registered voters is not as easy to determine as the number that voted

Anyone able to vote and not voting for Harris is indirectly voting for Mango Hitler.

If you can vote and decide to not do it, you are saying you are ok with both candidates.

[-] frunch@lemmy.world 24 points 9 months ago

Truthfully though, i think a lot of those people are ok with either. They don't view politics as making any difference in their day-to-day lives and/or may be too busy or otherwise engaged to pay attention to the news (or perhaps even disinterested!). I know some people who are more or less apolitical. They don't talk about politics, they don't think about politics, and they don't seem overly concerned since Trump took office again. That's just in my small orbit though -- there are millions of people out there that have much different views than most of us here.

I sometimes think we get wrong idea about how popular are views/beliefs are because we're hanging out in an echo chamber to some degree.

Well said. Honestly, I feel very strongly that this is not an overreaction compared to what he has said and done over his lifetime. Truly a vile human being at best.

[-] bluecat_OwO@lemmy.world 14 points 9 months ago

as a non american, I think this is my exact image for trump. From the way he walks, talks and exist, I think he is a disgusting immature buffoon

How thoughtless and heartless does someone have to be to write this shit knowing damned well half the voting public in the USA just got a second hand burn they cannot afford medical treatment for.

[-] ironchico@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

The problem is the other half that cries it’s being burned, they do absolutely nothing to mitigate this. Americans act like this is something that happened out of a vacuum, rather than take responsibility for decades upon decades of letting elected officials destroy your country. You all act like “it’s not me, I didn’t vote for this” but you all (every American) let this happen. Protesting for one day out of the year ain’t gonna cut it. Where’s the general strikes, and work stoppages, or actual outrage. The rest of the world looks at America and sees nobody actually doing anything. You guys could learn a lot about protesting from other countries like France for example.

Worst part is we will not learn. Democrats are getting behind newsom only because he is less of a wet blanket then current leaders. But he still supports the policies that resulted in trump. I want to say " but yeah maybe we can push having newsome really change shit for the better", then I remember that never worked with Obama. The cycle continues...

I heard somebody say the other day that it's like Trump's brain rotted away a long time ago and he's just controlled by his lizard brain now. He's starting to look like a lizard.
