You can't protect yourself from it with critical thinking. It has magical properties which make it dangerous even to try. The only way is to prevent any and all contact whatsoever. Even if China is 100% the dystopian nightmare that they say it is, it's not committing genocide, it's not part of the same community of nations that have been doing imperialism for 200 years, and it's something that we have any voice in unlike the West where we can make our own leaders' lives uncomfortable for helping a genocide.
