The lift problem has been temporarily patched - workman found a master setting that stops at every floor - and I am home

I noticed a soft plastics collection bin at my Woolies. Sign said it’s a trial. I’m gonna start collecting plastics again, hopefully they don’t get hoarded in a warehouse again.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

I think it's better the supermarkets pay to keep them in a warehouse than they end up in the ocean. Maybe that will incentivise them to stop wrapping everything in plastic

I did this to Gibson when she was a kitten and I freaked the fuck out. Rang the emergency vet literally ran down the street with her in the carrier to the vet and they were like "nah she's fine" lol

I've had to train myself to check if Alfie under my chair because he loves to sit under there and watch the birdies and I end up accidentally pulling out chunks of fur.... love how it's the human who learned, not the cat.

I have been informed that I can't go home today.

Some dickhead ripped out the scanners in both lifts of my apartment building. Neither lift is functioning, indefinitely

[-] [email protected] 7 points 5 days ago

What the fuck? Surely the building has a contingency plan for accessibility?

Having some experience with lifts and servicing, they should have an override option (or maintenance mode) that basically stops at every floor and just cycles through.

What the fuck?!?! Fuck that!!!!

If you need to stay at a hotel they'd better be paying you back for that.

Alfie is home with us! Lots of meowing and exploring and already kicking kitty litter everywhere.

Was talking to an American today and trying to describe some of the issues with size and remoteness we have monitoring/managing projects out bush. Like why we can't just offer bounties to people to round up feral cats in the Pilbara. Mate there's like 4 people out there...

he didn't get it until I told him we have 25mill people and the basically all live in three cities but in a country the size of the US.He went just kinda quiet for a minute and said...oh...we have like 600mill.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago

You see it in the tourist threads where people are coming for two weeks and want to do the daintree, Brissy, Sydney, Melbourne and see a few sights around each city and maybe "pop" over to Perth.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

600 million ...lol

usa is 342 million

[-] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

Well yes I did think that but I had already questioned him enough!!

Aldi has dutch salted (but still sweet) licorice. So good, and not many people like it so less sharing required.

I seem to be completely lacking motivation today. I think I'll have to try taking the dog for a walk, maybe the wind yesterday blew it down the street and I can find it again out there.

Edit: no motivation to be found out there. I did find some more rubbish blown into my yard though. I might look in some boxes after lunch, maybe it's fallen into one of them. Possibly with my missing jar of cranberry sauce.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 5 days ago

just for today?

I'm having huge lack of motivation for the next few decades

BiP news.

Coming home on the train thru Flemington I saw a brand new BiP mural, they had semi automatic weapons. And thinking further on my impassioned well thought out and written critique on BiP the two most insulting words I wrote were laziest and committee.

Separate news.

Will people stop wearing tees and hoodies with the word Betty on it, it means

spoilercunt
. I don't think the people wearing Betty know.

I don’t think the people wearing Betty know.

YESSS and they have like bandanas and whatnot? That's between Royal Park station and Flemington Bridge station. It's my favourite mural.

I have a photo of it but I can't find it right now lol

Edit: found it lol

Any DT legends been referred to (or know of) a notably on-the-ball internal medicine specialist/general physician that practices privately? They seem kinda hard to find and don't want to end up with a flop, given the price tag, so hoping to consider at least one or two options additional to the one my GP suggested.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

wtf is 'internal medicine'? Isn't all medicine internal to some degree? Or is this a euphemism? Cos if so I missed the email.

[-] [email protected] 9 points 4 days ago

It's when they shrink down the doctor so they are really tiny so they can examine you from the inside. Very expensive due to danger pay, if they take a wrong turn they can accidentally disolve themselves in stomach acid.
