The text is from the Esperanto Wikipedia article for underwear, describing how pantylines are a "known problem" of that type of underwear. The character is Konata Izumi from Lucky Star.

Esperanto konata is of course wholly unrelated to the name of Konata, and is instead just a regular present passive participle of koni, "to know". But it's still a mildly amusing coincidence, right?

random btw: komnata means chamber in Polish

The same word means room in Russian, in both cases from Latin camīnāta via Old High German. That Latin word is also the source of the English word chimney, via French.

As for konata without an m, apparently it also means flowerpot in some dialects of Serbo-Croatian.

cool didn’t know it’s used in Russian too, it sounds like a Russian word

never really thought about it but ‘room’ and ‘peace’ use the same word in Polish, ‘pokój’

animes have some outside of the box character names sometimes
