I'm sorry this happened, comrade. It's time to join the cult of Schwalbe Marathons, if you haven't already
You beat me to it. I can also attest to the effectiveness of Schwalbe Marathons. Great in all conditions, not too heavy, and puncture-proof as it gets. Additionally, the retro reflective stripe is incredible for night time visibility. Best in class everyday tire, easily.
Those tires look pretty slick, OP, I know money doesn’t grow on trees but please consider it as a safety measure.
I bought the bike used but the tires it came with are pretty pristine. Would hate to have to buy new ones already. If this becomes a regular occurrence, I might have to swap out at least the tire on the rear wheel though. I might also start carrying a patching kit and one of those electric mini bike pumps in my backpack
Also it looks like local shops don't stock 26 x 2.0
Those CO2 cannisters are lighter than the pump and can be used in a pinch if necessary.
No need to rush out and get Marathons, but they might be worth getting as your next tyres. Stores can get them in easy if you ask, or keep an eye out online and get some on sale.
Best tires for the city, they say: slicks that puncture if you look at them wrong.
The city: where every street is littered with glass.
I've been lucky but I think it helps that my tires are a little knobbly.

the only "they" possible here is the fixie community and you really have to stop listening them for a variety of reasons.
I rode a bike with mostly slick city tires for years without a single puncture, then I had incredibly shitty luck and in the span of a few months managed to hit like 6 glass shards. I just got this bike a few weeks ago
Best tires for the city are schwable marathons or continental contact plus. Slicks are nice for well paved roads with no trash, so no where.
highly dependable on location. if you live in 70s new york those marathosn are for you, otherwise every other tyre made heaps and bounds as per puncture protection without feeling like you're trying to drag a sand over rock
I found the most effective way to deal with microplastics in my balls was simply to have them removed entirely.
not sustainable.
i empty mine regularly to collect the microplastics and use them for my 3d printer.
free filament baby
Microplastic is stored in the ballz
its pretty bad out there. I used to get punctures like once a month in the summer, almost always from glass. I got some nicer (but slightly skinnier) tires and now I haven't picked up a noticeable puncture like that in ages but now they just leak their pressure down in under a week so I'm not sure whats worse. (bike nerds: is this because I'm using schrader tubes? my bigger tires seemed to hold better but they didn't need 60psi)
(bike nerds: is this because I'm using schrader tubes? my bigger tires seemed to hold better but they didn't need 60psi)
It's my anecdotal experience that schrader leaks more air at higher pressure than dunlop or presta but every other day seems like maybe you dinged your valves somewhere along the line or have a slow leak
My presta tubes need to be aired up every week, I think it's a consequence is higher pressure tubes (60-90psi)
mine probably need some air like every other day but it doesn't get truly bad until its been like 5+ days.
its very annoying. Makes me want to go back to having like 2.75" wide tires that only need like 30-40 psi. These aren't even that small, still 1.75" I think, but the leakage is brutal. I'm too lazy for this
Everything now must have filling stations instead of being sold in packages, you want coke? bring your expensive thermos and fill it at the store, y'all can't be trusted with anything.
We're going to commit to a Calabash Gourd bottle society now
Get some kevlar tires
Tire blowouts are the worst
No plastics, no glass, no aluminum either, at this point just reconsidering all of industrial society
