Remember how huge troubles they had with decomissioning of USS Enterprise? And it wouldn't be even first time when US get rid of obsolete ships like that. On the other hand, it would be a super risky gambit, since Iran sinking US nuclear carrier would be not only ragebait for war consent manufacture but also a sign of extreme weakness of US Armed Forces.
