They're still made with american parts. Gripen - american engine, Eurofighter - american nav systems and targeting, Rafale - american electrical, hydraulic, targeting. Probably more that I'm forgetting about.

So they could go that route, but ultimately they'll still be giving the US money and work (also for replacement parts/servicing, possibly training).
And then they'll have to wait even longer to get their planes.
