Don't assassinate them, dilemma resolved!

[-] [email protected] 17 points 6 days ago

I will be very surprised if either of them survives.

She's essentially on that ship as a human shield, and we've seen plenty of evidence of how much Israel respects human shields.

[-] [email protected] 11 points 6 days ago

High profile human shields tho? That's an altogether different game unfortunately. That's gonna go places where the story otherwise wouldn't. Gonna get in front of eyes that wouldn't otherwise care. As awful as that is.

Frankly looking at Isntreal's track record, I'm not optimistic.

This is satire, right? Right?

Can't wait for CNN et al to begin reporting on violent Hamas assassinating Greta and using it to justify sending more tax payer funded F35s into the bottom of the ocean only to find out a number of decades later that the IDF made the call knowingly.

Didn’t realize Liam Cunningham was going too—wasn’t his Game of Thrones character called the “Onion Knight” for smuggling food to starving civilians during a siege?

[-] [email protected] 11 points 6 days ago

Yep; it made me smile when I realised. :-) It’s probably the only time something Gaza-related made me smile...

[-] [email protected] 58 points 1 week ago

Yup, that's him.

In a sane world, Israel would have every right to protect itself from humanitarian aid ships that were bound for another country.

"Israeli intelligence shows the so-called "Freedom Flotilla" is planning to arm Palestinians with food"

This is exactly why she's on the ship. She's known world wide.

Also, thanks to one of the comments in that article, here's a link to track the ship:

[-] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago

Okay any update the tracker no longer showing anything?

[-] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Its not tracking for me either. Ive found this info from today:
https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/explained-global/madleen-mission-deliver-aid-gaza-8978189-10052060/#google_vignette

A drone sighting on Tuesday night had alarmed some activists, although FFC later clarified that the drone belonged to the Greek coast guard.

According to Al Jazeera, Madleen is expected to arrive in waters off the coast of Gaza by Saturday. But Israel is unlikely to let the ship dock in order to not “undermine” the blockade, The Jerusalem Post reported.

As a precaution, Madleen has been broadcasting its real time location for the world to see. It is currently in a southeasterly direction towards Gaza on the Mediterranean Sea, to the south of the island of Crete. On Thursday afternoon, Madleen took a brief detour, responding to a distress call from a nearby ship.

(It has what seems to be a progress tracker pic from after the distress call yesterday.)

Is that tracker even real. I commented 9 hours ago yet that tracker in the same spot? Also was going sign petition but no fucking way giving them my physical address. That great way to have government come pounding down my door.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 6 days ago

Yeah it's been moving. It's just moving slow. The marker has definitely progressed since i made the comment with the link in it.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago

Woah whatd up with that course change?

[-] [email protected] 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Great catch!
They intercepted a downed boat.

At approximately 07:36 EEST, the Madleen, en route to Gaza, received a mayday relay from a Frontex drone operating in the Central Mediterranean Sea. The crew responded via VHF radio after which the drone provided an updated position for the distressed vessel. Madleen immediately contacted Greek and Egyptian authorities. However, both confirmed they were too far away to respond and advised the Madleen to intervene if possible.

...

As the vessel drew closer and sounded an alarm, crew members on the Madleen identified it as a Libyan Coast Guard vessel—the Tareq Bin Zayed, known for grave human rights violations and involvement in previous unlawful pullbacks of asylum seekers. Concern mounted that they would forcibly return the refugees to Libya, in violation of international law. The Madleen‘s crew warned them not to do so, but the Libyan authorities did not respond.

To avoid being taken by the Libyan authorities, four people jumped into the sea and began desperately swimming towards the Madleen. The crew then issued a mayday for itself, calling for urgent assistance, but other vessels remained too far away. The Madleen’s crew rescued the four from the water.

Okay glad they were there to help. Hope its not a trap. Yes I check this every few hours, so scared for them and hope they make it safe.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago

I'm glad you check it. And I feel the same.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 5 days ago

Read article and sad how the world is treating people. I also wonder if this was setup to keep them away from Gaza?

[-] [email protected] 61 points 1 week ago

There is also Rima Hassan on board, an elected representative of the EU.

I wonder how many civilians in Gaza Israel would have to murder in order to gain the same amount of press as they would receive for killing two famous white people.

I suspect there were never enough people there to solve this equation.

[-] [email protected] 12 points 6 days ago

You're assuming people will care about that either.

Within minutes you'll be hearing about the "secret anti-semitic DMs of hateful Greta" from the likes of the Daily Mail.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 6 days ago

Oh, I have no doubt the Daily Mail wanted Thunberg dead long before she spoke out against Israel.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago

The part that bothers me is how many people ignore and are trying to iron clad state that antisemetism is anti Jewish. Semites include Arabs as a well. Basically if you are looking down/hating on a group for their beliefs or languages, you probably fall into antisemetism. Thus if their logic that anti Israel is antisemetic, then anti the people from Gaza would also be antisemetic. Attacking Iraq, or Afghanistan who's official religions are Islam - anti semetic. Attacking Spain, we can call it antisemetism because I believe Catholicism is the official religion, and you guessed it. Christians fall under Semitic usually, because Jesus happens to stem from the middle east..
