This “small group of Colorado Pastors and faith leaders from small churches across the state are doing all we can together to oppose these assaults on our people's God-given liberties.” By which they mean they were lying to people about what the bill said because nothing in their religion ever taught them that lying is bad.

Right-leaning Christians: Our rights are important!

Left-leaning Christians: I agree!

Right-leaning Christians: Especially the right to be shitty to people!

Left-leaning Christians: Wait, what?

Left leaning Christians are still Christians and Christians are all awful.

Kind of a shitty thing to say considering how many Christians there are attending inclusive churches while quietly living a good life. There's Christians out there doing more good for the world than both of us combined.

Well meaning religious institutions are rare, and left-wing Christians are deconstructing in droves (or taking a very atheist interpretation of Christianity) but non-awful Christians do exist.

White Christion nationalists on the other hand...

What's that saying about 1 Nazi sitting at a table with 9 other non Nazis?

There was an interesting comment I saw earlier today where a Texas pastor mentioned how he doesn’t like to use the word “Christian” any more because it’s come to mean something that is the polar opposite of what Jesus taught. Jesus was a humanist. I can imagine him, Buddha, and Carl Sagan being very good friends.

My point is, you are so preoccupied with labels that the actual ideals and behavior aren’t part of your equation. Therefore your analogy is unrelated to the reality.

As Frederick Douglass put it, American Christianity (or what we today call “Christian Nationalism”) is not Christian. I’d even call it decidedly antichrist.

I'm curious... do you think it's more likely that the historical jesus was :
a) resurrected Lazarus and himself from the dead, and gave the power to raise others from the dead to his followers, or
b) was a charlatan faking all that for money and attention?

(Fun Fact they don't teach in Sunday School: the gospels weren't written by anyone who actually knew him. Probably not even by people that spoke the same language.)

If there was a historical Jesus, he was likely a wandering rabbi whose life and actions have been heavily mythologized. Personally, I like the idea that Lazarus was unconscious - maybe in a coma - and when Jesus showed up he noticed immediately and berated everyone for being idiots.

Still makes me smile the law being referred to as 1312

If they are talking about politics from the pulpit, Colorado needs to begin a tax investigation. They might not be able to do anything about their federal non profit status but they might be able to force them to pay state taxes.

I think they're allowed to talk politics but not to endorse specific candidates.

At this point, all nonprofits should be revoked unless they are a small organization that does non-partisan and non-religious works that directly benefit the community.

So what assault would that be, exactly, beyond "existing"? Because that is literally what this is about, transgender persons want to exist, and you somehow think it's your imaginary sky daddy's given right to ensure they don't exist?

If it's not that, then what is it? Just your plain right to be an asshole and discriminate against them?

I've seen many "let's use phrasing to make this turd shiny" speech but it's always the religious types that take it to an art form.

It adds intentionally “deadnaming” and “misgendering” to the list of things you can’t do with malicious intent under the "Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act," which would apply to places of public accommodation ...

An earlier version of the bill also added intentionally “deadnaming” and “misgendering” to the list of things you can’t do with malicious intent under the "Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act," which would apply to places of public accommodation ... Both of those portions were struck from the final bill.

Is this a misprint or am I just not understanding, they're saying this is in the law but then immediately say it isn't in the law, with the same wording
