Predators hunt. Bears don't. If they come across something edible, they'll eat it. But they aren't going to track and kill prey, the way a cougar or wolf does.

Well...with the exception of fish. They'll scoop fish out of a river all day, if there's enough of them.

There have actually been many successful attempts to tame and train Cheetahs as hunting companions going back to ~2000 B.C.E so we have been working on it.
