Incredibly bad post incoming. You ever see something online of an otherwise completely innocuous instance that you can immediately pinpoint as a microcosm of something greater? Uhh yeah. Turns out online is unfortunately real life.

When I see a video that has gender implications blow the fuck up, alarms blare. Alarms fucking blare. Because it’s extremely nauseating to see people pretend like gamer gate and the “not real life” harassment of women didn’t have drastic consequences. It actually makes my blood boil thinking about how much I was clowned on in college for telling people that Jordan Peterson’s language was violent, and it’s fucking infuriating to see people still pretending that language isn’t a tool often used as a weapon.

OK, picture two birds- one is more colorful than the other and chirping away aggressively Like, first off, I feel like sometimes we attribute traits to other animals that we see in ourselves, and I feel like this is a bit illustrative to the education crisis happening in amerikkka. But I digress. OP mistakenly classifies the colorful bird as the female and captions “When the woman has to put the man in his place 💅”

The top comment with hundreds of thousands of likes points out OP’s mistake (smugly but it doesn’t matter because it gets hundreds of thousands of likes). Every comment (that people will look at) is now about how the OP is a man hater or dumb liberal.

I guess the inverse isn’t much better (OP frames it as female bird being put in her place by a male bird and gets another host of insults), but I will die on the hill of something primal being activated in men when they feel like they might lose power, whether that’s

Idk, some things are worth overanalyzing imo. As someone who has only ever had words but been afraid to use them, people have clowned on me for decades for “giving them too much power.” But this is why girl boss feminism fails as illustrated by birds.
