Somebody on here I think got this right. They're making excuses because dude's already dead.
I would have gone with, “Salvadoran President States Finders Are Keepers, Refuses to Return Wrongly Deported Man.”
The Onion needs to try harder. I remember a time when their headlines were obviously fake. The best they can do now is headlines that are slightly unlikely.

It's scary just how real this sounds. Just goes to show how messed up our current reality is.
