Bring a photo, say you want a men’s haircut. Maybe even go to a barber instead of a hairdresser, if you have any confidence they won’t fuck with you for being NB. In my experience barbers are very cool, but YMMV
I once brought a mugshot of Pretty Boy Floyd, barber loved it and had fun duplicating an extremely outdated haircut.

Honestly I just looked up Rei Ayanami haircut and then tried to do that to myself. It's messy but that's how I like it

I think the bieber cut looks great (dunno what he's got these days but you know what cut i mean yeah?) or any cut that has buzzed sides has always looked super fly to these peepers
Big fan of shaved heads for androgynous looks, though that leans heavily on how you style yourself clothing-wise.
I dunno if I have the right face shape to pull that off, I admire people who can pull off the bald look.
It's definitely hard to pull off, but looks cool as hell when done right. Maybe ask your friends if they think you can pull it off! Other than that, I have no ideas, sorry lol

Maybe a quiff? If you’re trying to look androgynous, I’d avoid the fade that comes in a lot of the reference images on Google. Not sure why. Just my intuition. The articles about quiffs have more variation and show distinct looks. And you can find variations of this haircut on any gender and face shape, although the quiffs on women seem to have more fades and colors in them. Good to have reference images of what you want as well as references of what you’re looking to avoid with a particular cut.
Edit: also, if you don’t already have a hairdresser who specializes in gender affirming cuts, that does help.

buzz cuts can be liberating, you can do it yourself, sends a strong not cishet and anti authority vibe, you can do it yourself, less money and time on products and its popular with the masc and feminist on xiaohongshu. dont do an undercut (outdated), and also i would not go with a pixie cut (not your vibe).

im on a quest to save as many millennials as i can on this site. most of the fashion advice on here is 10 to 15 years old and genuinely will not make you look more queer (and definitly not cool) in the slightest.

lol youre welcome. the way i see it is that fashion is nonverbal communication. You're constantly communicating something either intentionally or unintentionally with your appearance. Communication is essential for finding community/ companionship. if youre queer and you want other queer people to know you are queer you cannot expect them to read your mind (especially in a world where straight outing yourself to every stranger is dangerous), you need to use nonverbal communication to let them know you are in the in group. queer people have always done this. and this communication must rely on shared symbols and aesthetics, or you wouldn't be able to communicate with each other. This goes for all subcultures. the issue is that in the modern world cis het people are appropriating queer culture at a insane rate with the internent, and things that were queer nonverbal indicators 15 years ago and now mostly worn by conservative cis hets (booooo). so it may take effort but a part of being in community with people is learning and engaging with the culture around you. and that involves keeping up the the "trends". as long as queerness exist so will queer culture and so will queer fashinon exist as a form of communication.
i just made a new friend at a gay club 2 days ago becuase someone saw we had similer outfits and introduced us. queer people introduce themselves to me where ever i go becuase i look queer, i can make freinds anywhere, people remember me, people approch me, i promise it genuennly makes your life better to have intentional style.
