Money laundering. The orange cancer used the casinos to launder Russian funds. You can't tell me otherwise.

Laundering is meant to hide funds by making your business look more successful than it really is. That just makes the bankruptcies colossally worse.

I think that was his goal, but then realized it took work ethic and expertise to run a casino as a front and he lacked both

Real estate ended up being an easier method

Wouldnt that have made the casinos more profitable and less likely to fail? Its been awhile since I watched Ozark, but shouldnt the Russians have been paying to have their money laundered?

Casinos are notorious for loosing money, that's where we get the saying "the house always looses"

Wow, this reads like a fluff piece.

Serious question: how often do other casinos declare bankruptcy?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago

Yeah. I was OK with them explaining how bankruptcies work, but then when they got to the actual events, they're like "300 million in loansa they couldn't pay back" but that might not be his fault. Like what?

It doesn't happen that often but it does happen. Poor management, taking on excessive debt, and poor location (cough Tunica cough) are usually contributing factors.
