If you like your FLGS, or enjoy tabletop games, you should be thinking about what you can do to help stop the Russian backed coup that has seized power.

I'll be attending every protest I can, talking to my friends & coworkers, and calling my senators and representatives daily to demand they remove trump from power and end his illegitimate regime.

My side project is a small game company and we’re leaving the US over this. We got bit bad by the tariffs this year, probably putting us in the red.

Oh shit I didn't even think about the impact on board games. I'm not in the US but I assume a significant drop in spending from such a large market would have a global impact.

When the rich and powerful get complacent enough they forget about the whole bread and games thing.

Looking at my shelf of mostly unplayed games, many still in shrinkwrap and the rest with the counters not punched out I seem to favour eurogames.

Last American made game I got was the Battletech Mercenaries kicksstarter. But guess what! Still got Clan Invasion mostly unplayed weird flex

It should see growth as americans are forced to hide under floor boards grom the icestapo, with nothing to do but play boardgames

I should 3D print some dice!

[-] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

Related: heroforge has a Kickstarter ending soon (or just ended) for balanced 3d printed dice. (With whatever you want inside)

I want (affordable) access to that printer.

With most tabletop games produced overseas, many in China, the impact could be devastating. Developers and publishers are sounding the alarm.

I mean... chase short-term cost-cutting....

[-] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago

Boardgames are customised and low quantity products that can't really be manufactured efficiently anywhere else. It's hardly practical for publishers to pay 2-3 times the cost to have them produced elsewhere.

I wonder how the world managed to keep on turning when the Chinese weren't manufacturing everything

Nobody said it's impossible. The retail price of boardgames will just double to triple. Which will then cause the market to shrink, demand to fall, and even less economies of scale. Just what we want for the hobby.
