Adventure time has plenty of moments that were very brutal and dark for a children's show.

Here's a list of tons of leftist movies.
Haven't watched it yet but agree with the other poster. Adventure time was a kids show for adults, basically. Like it's kid friendly but imo it's best enjoyed as a young adult
Later seasons of Adventure Time especially felt like Fiona & Cake do at times. My child is a huge Adventure Time fan and the first couple episodes of Fiona & Cake were a little up and down for him, but once the reveals of episodes 3 & 4 came about he really got into it.
In general, I've found Adventure Time and related works (stuff done by people that worked on the show like Over the Garden Wall, Summer Camp Island, etc) to be pretty respectful of how intelligent kids can be and challenging them with more emotionally mature stuff and deeper lore. It's all candy and so I limit his intake on it, but I feel better about this stuff than some of what passes for kids entertainment these days.
The old stuff was great, worth checking out just for Simon's back story. Lot of tears were shed for Simon. Watched the new stuff Friday. Really enjoyed it and looking forward to seeing where they go with it.
I wish I had watched adventure time when I was younger, not sure I’d enjoy it as much going back and watching it as a grown ass man but everyone who did watch it gives such rave reviews
I'm aging myself here, but I watched it as a grown ass man and enjoyed it a lot. It's similar to Spongebob in that there's things to like about it for people of all ages. I say give it a watch!
The first season or two is noticeably sillier, but it's a great show. I think it can definitely be enjoyed by people of all ages
Do you smoke weed?
too much
It's really good for that. It's so silly
The original show didn't have blood or swearing. Its a show that grew up with the audience.
Season 1-2 are mostpy just fun romps 3 and onward get increasingly mature, but don't ever abandon the whimsy.
But Fionna and Cake are about the existential despair of working life and the desire to escape it, a message that kids wont relate to the same way as adults
