Later seasons of Adventure Time especially felt like Fiona & Cake do at times. My child is a huge Adventure Time fan and the first couple episodes of Fiona & Cake were a little up and down for him, but once the reveals of episodes 3 & 4 came about he really got into it.
In general, I've found Adventure Time and related works (stuff done by people that worked on the show like Over the Garden Wall, Summer Camp Island, etc) to be pretty respectful of how intelligent kids can be and challenging them with more emotionally mature stuff and deeper lore. It's all candy and so I limit his intake on it, but I feel better about this stuff than some of what passes for kids entertainment these days.
