i mean, they're still being used they're just not minecraft style blocks anymore
enshrouded from last year is pretty popular, and entirely voxel based but looks very pretty (imo)

IIRC they were being used without the minecraft look from the start - Crysis and Red Alert 3 used them, for example.

Vehicles again. I'm not sure when it started, I just remember them being in 3.
the minecraft "voxels" aren't real voxels and they look like the funkopops of retro gaming

What are voxels?
Volumetric pixels. When everything is made out of smol cube instead of textured polygons.

I dont care thaaaat much about gfx but if your game isnt about building stuff/minecraft etc I dont really like voxels.
Minecraft isn't even voxels, they're textured!
