Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

MODERATORS

Image is of many Hamas soldiers supervising the handing over of Israeli hostages to cars heading out of the Gaza Strip.

After 15 months of genocide - and resistance to it - the Israeli regime realized that they could not win a military victory against Hamas, and were forced to sign a humiliating ceasefire in order to get their hostages returned.

With much of Syria under the control of Al-Qaeda, and an increasing level of covert infiltration into Lebanon, the crisis in the Middle East is not over, and we may still be in its beginning stages, as the center of hegemony continues its gradual shift away from the United States. Their navy, once considered the best in the world, is likely also not very happy about their ships and aircraft carriers being forced to retreat by Yemen, one of the poorest countries; and all eyes are on Iran, who has, over the last year and a half, demonstrated a newfound confidence and strength to directly strike Israel.

The recovery for Gaza will take, at a minimum, decades; it could indeed never fully recovery to even how it was before, considering it is not in Israel's interests to see their concentration camps recover. But Hamas has proven to be steadfast and the tunnel network has proven its resilience, despite facing some of the most powerful conventional bombing in history. This shows that Palestine's liberation is a when, not an if; and hopefully a much sooner "when" than expected before October 7th.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Exclusive: Trump administration canceling flights for nearly 1,660 Afghan refugees, say U.S official, advocate

Nearly 1,660 Afghans cleared by the U.S. government to resettle in the U.S., including family members of active duty U.S. military personnel, are having their flights canceled under President Donald Trump's order suspending U.S. refugee programs, a U.S. official and a leading refugee resettlement advocate said on Monday.

The group includes unaccompanied minors awaiting reunification with their families in the U.S. as well as Afghans at risk of Taliban retribution because they fought for the former U.S.-backed Afghan government, said Shawn VanDiver, head of the #AfghanEvac coalition of U.S. veterans and advocacy groups and the U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Holy shit. All January 6th rioters just pardoned

[–] [email protected] 46 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Trump called them "hostages", as if they were taken hostage by the prision system.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 20 hours ago

appropriate usage of the term considering how liberals have been using it for a year and a half

Trump is ranting about windmills again, saying that they're killing wales, all made in China, and cause power outages. This guy really hates windmills lmao. He's really on a roll right now, classic Trump. Extremely terrifying yet hilarious, both intentionally and unintentionally.

Trump's calling the people arrested during January 6 "hostages" now, and saying that he was investigated more than Al Capone! It's just getting better/worse.

He emotionally manipulating the families of the Israeli hostages taken on October 7th now, saying it would've never happened under Trump and Iran was broke.

He's signing executive orders in front of the crowd now, this is wild. It's like an episode of the Apprentice, but real.

He's throwing pens into the crowd now, this guy is something else.

would you say that he's tilting at them?

Russian reactionaries are so confused I don’t know how they even get up in the morning and put on their clothes.

They will get angry over US imperialism and cheer on Ansarallah bombing American aircraft carriers but then cheer as Trump says he will make the American military great again and invade Mexico to destroy the cartels.

Like wtf is even going on inside their brains to produce these incoherent outputs?

[–] [email protected] 40 points 1 day ago (2 children)

These people are just racists and homophobes. They will applaud Trump because he said some far-right talking points virtue signal shit, meawhile Trump arms US allies to attack Russia. If they were coherent, they would hate the USA presidents regardless of whether they are Democrats or Republicans, the USA is no friend of Russia and never will be. And the USA will never let Russia form any kind of Eurasian state/union any time soon.

some take on myanmar from leftcom friendos. Don't think i got more that it is a clusterfuck, but at least, i think, i can sort of see what acting rebels want. Seems they'll arrive at confederation sooner or later, considering.

(as we don't have lots of sources on myanmar, some comrades some time ago were interested)

Quickest path to Elon getting shitcanned by Trump is stealing Trump's spotlight. If the coverage ends up being more about his Nazi salute than Trump, it will definitely bring Elon at least one step closer.

In December 2024, President-elect Donald Trump stated that he plans to revert the mountain's official name back to Mount McKinley during his second term, in honor of President William McKinley. Trump's proposal was strongly opposed by U.S. Senators from Alaska Lisa Murkowski (R) and Dan Sullivan (R), along with Alaska State Senator Scott Kawasaki (D). On January 20, 2025, Trump announced that he intends to sign an executive order changing the mountain's official name back to Mount McKinley on the first day of his second term.

[–] [email protected] 42 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So this what he will be doing now? Changing names of things? Is this because Obamna changed the name of this mountain? Or is Trump such a big fan of William McKinley:

[–] [email protected] 45 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (5 children)

Trump likes McKinley because he captured new territories for the USA, had an anti inflationary monetary policy, and made use of tariffs. He also was assassinated. Lots of parallels to what Trump is promising. Getting to reverse something Obama did is a bonus.

Musk now has a badge to enter the White House complex and is likely to get a West Wing office. Previously, he had been expected to be in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

Guess he got a promotion after that salute amerikkka-clap

Apparently he is voting to end refugee resettlement for Cubans , haitians and Venezuelans.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 1 day ago

So cutting off the gusanos. Will they learn that the country they worship doesn’t give a shit about them and channel that frustration into anti-American sentiments? Of course not! It’ll be the government of Cuba/Venezuela/Haiti that’s at fault.

*though Haiti’s government had been a problem but a lot of it had to do with US intervention

Musk does a nazi salute https://x.com/RpsAgainstTrump/status/1881433923433169381?mx=2

It is commom to chuds to do a plausible deniability nazi salute like Bannon some hours/day ago and that bimbo fox news lady some years ago. But Musk cant as he is stupid and could not mask well.
