Issues responding to comments from particular users (hexbear.net)

hey comrades,

I've been having this issue that I thought must have been related to me using Voyager, but I just experienced the same thing through desktop firefox.

When I respond to some users the page load times out and says I can't reply, but it has posted my reply (often without upvoting my own comment)

Obviously not thrilled to be tagging people but one user I have noticed it with replying @Angel@hexbear.net, both threads and comments.

Which is extra annoying cause I've been really enjoying nerding out together.

I think it has happened with other users too. (Really regretting not saving the thread that was extra broken I saw earlier in the week.)

Yeah known issue on our end (not sure if upstream knows about it). The PostComment method does a bunch of extra stuff after actually creating the comment, like sending notifications, clearing your own notifications, etc. I imagine one of those is doing a db query that just takes forever and times out at some point

@Angel@hexbear.net do you have anything out of the ordinary on your account? Do you have maybe 100,000 unread notifications or something

edit: wow, even tagging you causes the issue

edit 2: Do you happen to have the 'Send notifications to Email' setting enabled in your profile?

I haven't been able to reply properly to @Angel@hexbear.net for probably 4-6 months. I can reply, but then it times out. Same if I try to upbear, it times out. It usually goes through though if I just refresh the page but it's pretty annoying. It happens with others too but mostly Angel.

Damn, I never noticed the pattern of it being specific users. I'll start keeping notes from now on to see if that's my issue, too.

I have frequently encountered this with posting notifications with links to other users for a while now. Editing in the the user link after posting without it has been a work around for me.

When I post a comment lately the post button will spin for a while but if I refresh the page it will still post if I wait long enough. I did try to make a comment early to someone on Jerboa and got a "deleted by creator" error. After trying several times I gave up. Something is bogging down the way comments are processed for sure.
