Kbin was my entry into the fediverse after the Great Reddit Enshittifying and Great Reddit Exodus.

But progress stalled and the site itself started to fall apart, so I moved over to lemmy.world.

RIP Kbin. ๐Ÿ˜”

I still have hope for Kbin. And I prefer its interface. My primary worry is more that the next major influx into the Fediverse will happen while Kbin is stalled, rather than that the stall will endure indefinitely.

As long as Ernest says things are ongoing, I'm willing to believe him. o7

I'm in the same boat as you, and I definitely prefer Kbin still. Has Ernest said much recently, though?

Not recently. Last month we had an update. I understand Ernest is going through personal stuff, though.

I'll wait for him forever, like Madama Butterfly.

But yeah this outage might be a long one unless it's a server issue and someone over there notices.

Most Lemmy servers have alternative interfaces btw

Idk anything about Kbin nowadays, but could this outage really be related to homophobia?

If for some reason, the owner of Kbin.social's protest against Pride month is shutting down the servers, then what purpose does this protest even fulfill? They can only lose users by not having a reliable 24/7 service providing.

I don't think so that this is the reason for the outage, but please convince me, if you have some proof or fair logic in this topic.

Oh, no, I'm just teasing, I don't mean this seriously. Like I said elsewhere in these comments, Kbin goes down at times; it's just the nature of the beast. Ernest (the dev) is a good guy.

Good, my first thoght was that it sounded more like a DOS if anything. Eather that or monthly maintenence.
