Nah Samir Amin. Good guess though, Parenti, at least to me, was influenced by similar ideas to Amin. Parenti's quote about the anti communist framework being able to paint anything in a negative light is based on the same ideas as Amin's critique of culturalism. As Amin says, "culturalism can prove any formulation and its opposite."

what the fuck is the deal with the German left? why are they like this?
The lesson they got from doing the Holocaust was not "genocide is bad" but "Jews are good." Israel is a chance for them to support both.
Intense moralism combined with repressed nationalism. This same dynamic will lead to some switch flipping someday that turns them full-on literal Nazi.
Many (even if admittedly a minority) Antideutsche, especially those affiliated with the magazine "Bahamas" started supporting the AfD in the wake of the refugee crisis of 2015.
Racism and the destruction of the East German left
The aberration of west German "leftism" took over the "left" of Germany and they've never dealt with racism in their ranks or the larger society
Plus all the underground and latent nazism that survived the war
Imagine an entire country made up of Twitter weebs who long for Imperial Japan
There must be some Germans who starts out joining the left out of good reasons, like wanting to stop racism or climate destruction or poverty and then something happens and they're out there making their great grandfathers proud by supporting Lebensraum and genocide.

German here. I get pretty weird vibes from this. Probably fake. The little flag down right does not look right, it's made to look like the antifa logo. Also the German left is very radically for Palestine, not against.
