I mean, it took billions of years to go beyond that on earth as well. If Mars lost its magnetic field and atmosphere a billion years ago (don't know the actual timeframe) from everything we know more complex life never had a chance.

If this doesn't turn out to be from some previously unknown chemical reaction.

Where of course the distributed nature can hopefully keep any one instance from becoming too powerful.

Pictures you (or your users. if any) uploaded yourself should be gone, though.

I've turned off proxying myself and purged what I could find from pictrs and it's still taking up way more storage than it should. And it's a messy black box where I have no idea what's really going on. Another reason why I want to switch to Piefed.

Ich würd auch 10 € zahlen, wenn es überhaupt guten Döner in der Nähe gäbe.

With the big difference being that all that data is what the users explicitly put into it. No hidden trackers.

Too many windows.

In my relentless pursuit of trying to coax more performance out of my Lemmy instance I read that PostgreSQL heavily relies on the OSs disk cache for read performance. I've got 16 GB of RAM and two hdds in RAID 1. I've PostgreSQL configured to use 12 GB of RAM and I've zram swap set up with 8 GB.

But according to htop PostgreSQL ia using only about 4 GB. My swap gets hardly touched. And read performance is awful. Opening my profile regularly times out. Only when it's worked ones does it load quickly until I don't touch it again for half an hour or so.

Now, my theory is that the zram actually takes available RAM away from the disk cache, thus slowing the whole system down. My googling couldn't bring me the answer because it only showed me how to set up zram in the first place.

Does anyone know if my theory is correct?

Die Sirene war aber so kurz, dass ich vermute dass das nur ein Fehler war.

Bro, are you even relax maxing bro? Are you achieving nirvana on your 15-minute break, bro? You gotta start microdosing rest every time you blink, bro. You gotta do it, bro; you gotta achieve the most relaxation you can otherwise you’re just waisting time, bro. You gotta take it slow as fast as you can, bro!

New study from the Charité involving Prof. Scheibenbogen and others.

Hand Strength measurements were used to determine muscle strength.

As admin of my instance I get the option of banning users from communities, in the context menu of posts. But usually I want to ban them from the whole server.

I do get the option to issue a sitewide ban when I handle reports.

Can I get the admin options in the post's context menu and on a user's page as well?
