I get that it seems like an exaggeration but there's a lot to ff14 that can't be summarized simply or easily. The headline is spot on.

The community at large is worried if the next expansion fails.

MMOs are costly to develop, Square Enix has shown time and time again that their funding goes towards everything they have except FF14. Even the most casual players joke that FF14's "ten devs" can't handle x change proposal.

The game has a lot of technical debt, and many issues have existed for a long time with the game server design, and that just scratches the surface.

The game's content patch cycle is under heavy scrutiny by the community for being too thin and spread out and having little repeatable content.

I hope SE designs something where my friends and I can dive into and have a repeatable source of entertainment and fun. There's literally nothing like this.

I would expand more but this could turn into a very long rant about current systems that are strangely socially punishing (punished for playing with friends).

I thought you could not see what the client is purchasing until you accept ?

Conspiracy theorists on the far fringe are all about knowing more than you, being smarter than you for noticing the obvious when you can't.

Them saying "pay attention" doesn't mean "there's something here that you are missing". It means "I am projecting that I know more than you". This is why they don't elaborate.

I'm kind of sick of being a dev. I hate AI with a passion.

I hate the hallucinations, I hate slop, I hate megacrops, I hate the environmental impacts, I hate the massive costs. I could go on but you get the picture.

At work I often times have to review vibe code slop from people who clock in 9 to 5 and don't give a fuck (I respect that, I just wish your fucking code wasn't slop)

I'm sick of it, I'm sick of hearing about AI tooling or new models or bro agentic actions bro based on your documentation bro.

I want to switch careers, so which career is not ruined by AI?

"whaoa dude the lore is so sick dude like the wiki explains how bambieshart was actually an agent of the glimmer knights and was actually killed by an opposing faction dude if you go to the wall precisely after killing the ice queen boss you can drop down a ledge to where the wall would collapse him and seal it dude this lore is so epic"

I was sharing music with a friend and their reaction upon being shown an artist (not even listening) was "ew less than 100k monthly listens”

bro? is this your metric for good music ? how many people listen to it on Spotify ?

if this is how avg ppl see music it explains a lot about top 40 charts

unironically this shit is so prevalent in the programming community that I can't help to laugh and shrug it off

remember: YouTubers are just that, most of them don't even work with the tech they gloat about

and for devlopment tools/frameworks/dependencies the mantra is: boring tech works, just remember that it needs to be currently supported/developed

I realized I always make a source folder under home and then subfolders named after programming languages to organize projects but then I realized I somehow had my own convention for how to store my source code and I have no idea where I got it from

Then I thought. what about other Linux users ?

What sorts of conventions do you have that pertains to folder structure in Linux ?
