Istanbul Park will be hosting the final two rounds of WorldRX this weekend. With the FIA's announcement earlier in the week, this will also be the last year for the World Championship for the time being. The European Championship will be the top level as of next year, with the possibility of a World Cup event at the end of the season. It'll be an interesting change, and definitely needed.

The first day of the event will have all three championships running, and on the second day all of the cars from EuroRX will transfer over to WorldRX for the finale. I'm hoping for a fun final event for the series!

In the best rallycross news I've heard in a while, the FIA is making some changes to the top level of the sport. The European Championship will be taking over as the premier championship, with plans for bringing back a World Championship in the future. The powertrains will be ICE only for the time being. I never minded the EVs, but I did mind how many drivers and teams those regulations excluded from competition. I've always preferred the sound and spectacle of the ICE cars though, so it's good to see the change.

I know I haven't fully thought out how this is going to affect the European Championship yet, but I do hope they come up with another lower level series for the less experienced drivers. Maybe even a junior final or something. It was always nice to see more competitive racing in ERX, but with teams like KMS and the Hansens most likely competing, I have a feeling the event winners will be weighted pretty heavily in their direction.

I'm interested to see what CE Dealer Team/Volvo decides to do for next year. They seem to be pretty heavily committed due to the EVs, so I'm not sure if they'll continue if they can no longer use those cars. The RallyX championship currently does allow electric cars in their Open4WD regulations though, so they could possibly move over there.

Overall I'm personally pretty excited about the changes, and I'm looking forward to next year!

I have the complete article I linked in the spoiler tag below to save a few clicks!

Text of the article that I linked! The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, has today announced a series of updates that, subject to the approval of the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC), will define the future of the rallycross championship. The changes establish a championship that is more competitive and stays true to the raw excitement that has always been at the heart of the discipline.

Over the past two years, rallycross has pioneered an unprecedented battle of technologies, with electric and combustion powertrains going head-to-head. This unique era showcased the category’s willingness to innovate and brought new dimensions to the sport, the learnings from this period will remain an important part of its legacy.

From 2026, the top-tier class will once again be filled exclusively with internal combustion engines a move designed to simplify the competition, strengthen the grid, and deliver the spectacle fans around the world have told us they value most.

In addition to changes to the powertrains, the championship itself is also evolving. From 2026, the top category of rallycross will revert to the FIA European Rallycross Championship. This will see a six race series at some of the continent’s most iconic rallycross venues. Fans can expect more of the same spectacular action that has defined the series, delivered at tracks steeped in rallycross heritage.

While the championship moves to a European Championship format, competition on the world stage is also planned to remain through the introduction of the inaugural FIA Rallycross World Cup, which - subject to the approval of the World Motor Sport Council- is intended to run in addition to the European Championship. The Rallycross World Cup will bring together the best drivers and teams from across the globe for a showdown outside of Europe, ensuring that rallycross retains its global presence while providing fans and drivers with a spectacular battle for victory on the world stage.

These changes form part of the FIA’s long-term vision that will create a sustainable and exciting rallycross competition. For 2028, the new technical regulatory framework being applied in the FIA World Rally Championship’s top category will be applied in rallycross, meaning modern, safer, more affordable, yet faster vehicles will become available over the subsequent seasons with the aim of attracting more competitors, and the logical return for a World Rallycross Championship with full and exciting grids.

FIA Road Sport Director, Emilia Abel, said: “The changes announced today mark an important step in shaping the long-term growth of rallycross. From the beginning, our approach has been to listen to the teams, the drivers, the organisers, and above all the fans.

The FIA has made races free to watch worldwide and built a world-class broadcast experience. But shaping the bigger picture takes time, which is why we are laying out this clear vision for 2026 and beyond.

The past two seasons have been a true battle of technologies, with electric and combustion power going head-to-head. This era showed how rallycross can lead in motorsport innovation, and the lessons learned will remain part of our DNA. The move to an internal combustion drivetrain builds on this foundation delivering an affordable and accessible format to grow grids and intensify competition.

With the European Championship providing a strong racing format, and plans – subject to the approval of the World Motor Sport Council – for a World Cup to create a thrilling global showcase, we are offering the best of both worlds as we transition toward the new technical regulations for the 2028 season.

The FIA is committed to delivering the close racing, and spectacle that make rallycross unique, while preparing the sport for an even stronger future, which honours our past, celebrates innovation, and ensures growth in rallycross for years to come.”

I would classify all of those titles as clickbait and ignore them. I play and enjoy both games, and both have their place.

It was just on sale for $8.49 USD not too long ago, so it'll probably be similar at the next Steam sale!

I enjoyed it too! It felt like an episode of Star Trek, which was exactly what I was looking for. I do wish they would have had a few more possible branches and outcomes, (I replayed it with different decisions and the story didn't vary too much, but maybe I just didn't pick the right ones!) but that's only an issue after a time or two. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that likes TNG or VOY style stories.

Another fast gravel event this week as the WRC heads to Chile for round 11! This is Sébastian Ogier's 200th WRC start, which is quite impressive. The title fight is currently very close, with the top four drivers separated by only 18 points!

Round 7 of the European Rally Championship returns to Wales for another fast asphalt rally this week. The title fight is still very close, so it'll be very interesting to see how this one plays out ahead of the finale in Croatia.

An all new rally for this week! It will be interesting to see how the drivers get to grips with the new stages, and who manages to pull off a win. Due to his position in the standings, Sébastian Ogier has decided to do the remaining rounds and will be competing for yet another championship. The event will be streamed on rally.tv, and highlights should be available on the WRC YouTube channel.

Another round of the World Rallycross Championship is coming up this weekend, this time at the KymiRing in southern Finland. The redesigned track hosted a round of RallyX earlier in the year, and with a few changes is ready to go again. This is Niclas Grönholm's home round, so he'll be pushing hard for a win here. However, the biggest story of the weekend so far is CE Dealer Team sponsoring Hansen Motorsport for this round, giving them a little bit more time to secure funding to complete the rest of the year.

In a move I definitely didn't see coming, Hansen Motorsport's closest rival will be helping them get on the grid for this week's round in Finland!

If you hadn't been keeping up on the latest news, Hansen Motorsport announced recently that they would be pulling out of the Finland round due to funding issues with a major sponsor, presumably Red Bull. It would have been the first round of the World Championship that Timmy Hansen didn't compete in since it started 12 years ago. Fortunately the people at Volvo and the CE Dealer Team decided to step in and keep them going for another round, even though they're only 10 points ahead of them in the driver's and team's championships! It's nice to see sportsmanship like this, as it would have pretty much taken the Hansens out of the title fight this year if they missed a round.

This is the home round for quite a few of the ERC regulars, so it will be interesting to see how the event plays out! It is a tarmac rally, but they often run on roads that are more rough and bumpy than many events.

Estering is one of my favorite tracks, so I'm looking forward to some good racing! Over 100 drivers are entered for these two days. Estering is the final event of the RallyX season as well, so last chance for the title!

There's a packed entry list for this week's RallyX event in Denmark! It's the home round for Ulrik Linnemann, who arrives this week in second in the RallyX North standings. All the drivers will be pushing to get good results before the final event in Estering next week, so it should be an entertaining weekend!

Rally Finland is almost here! One of the fastest events on the calendar every year, as well as an unofficial home round for Toyota due to the team being based there. Ott Tänak arrives with a 1 point championship lead, which relegates him to road sweeping duties for this round.

I'm still figuring out how to best do this, but I'm amazed at the pictures I can get! This is the JPEG straight from the camera, so no editing other than the stacking and tweaks the camera does. I almost exclusively use natural light, but I'm probably going to need to grab something for this type of thing.

Lots of fun, and if my neighbors didn't think I was crazy before, I'm sure they do now! 😂

I used to purchase everything I could from GOG until I switched to Linux full time. I still like the company and buy some from them, but until they become more Linux friendly or Steam gets worse I'll still prioritize Steam now. And it's not only the (very odd) resistance to making a Linux version of Galaxy, I've also seen them not offer Linux versions of games even when the developers have released it on other platforms.

They should really hire KSP players to do these missions. We might put a ladder over the hatch or forget landing legs, but at least we know how to fix this issue!

I'm happy to see they won! It's amazing how low Nintendo can go.

If I remember right, about a year ago they were banning a lot of Linux players. It might be happening again.

I primarily prefer it because it does pretty much all the Minecraft stuff I want it to do, and it's got other games available as well. Plus, completely Linux compatible and no Microsoft account!

Check out Ventoy! Unless you need a single ISO on the drive, it's just something you install to it and then copy and paste ISOs to the folder on it. No flashing needed, it runs them for you. I've got 128GB drives almost filled with every ISO I could possibly want.
