Computer science is more of a math degree than anything else

I imagine they poached a lot of Spacex engineers by simply telling them “we won’t make you work ungodly hours, nor will we subject you to a narcissistic manchild with no engineering education dropping in on your meetings and trying to tell you how to do your job”

Not sure if you noticed, or if sorghum noticed, but the link about dried beans they had in their reply refers to another blog post about your question. The author found that yes, homemade bread is cheaper when considering electricity costs, but obviously YMMV depending on power costs and the price of equivalent store-bought bread

This happens to me too, especially when it’s a computer that I haven’t used in a while, which makes me think that yeah it’s the arms race. It stops once my browser is open long enough for uBO to update

The porn industry, like many industries, is very exploitative of those who do the actual work.

A lot of the other replies here are very cynical about simps, loneliness, etc but a much more optimistic view of it is adult performers gaining complete control over their careers. They get to decide their own schedules, exactly what kind of content they want to make, keep (almost) all of the money that their content generates, and maintain ownership of their content.

There’s a documentary called “Rise of OnlyFans” that was pretty shittily produced, but I learned some pretty wild things from the interviews in it, e.g. when they did a shoot for a normal porn studio, they would only get paid $100 FLAT for a video that would take several hours to make. Like yeah, that’s more than minimum wage, but they’re certainly not shooting every day and that’s peanuts compared to what the video generates in revenue

AI is such a loose term that calling anything with if-else statements “AI” wouldn’t be lying (I learned about decision trees in my university machine learning class and those are just giant nested if-else statements)

I like front ends so I have a record of what I have and have not played, and so I can easily pickup where I left off with series and playlists, but to each their own

the French and English like being separate

Ah right, history. Shoulda seen that one coming

Conferences for URC could work I think, just gotta make sure traditional meetups and rivalries are maintained, e.g. provincial Irish teams playing each other

I wouldn’t say college football is necessarily a step down from pro, at least when it comes to Top 25 teams playing each other. In fact there’s lots of football fans that care more about college than pro. At top programs like Michigan, tickets can be on the same level as pro - I mean, lookup pics of their stadium, it rivals some pro stadiums

Props to the artist for the spot-on character renditions from each game. Lots of effort for a 4-panel comic

I have a handful of self hosted sites on my LAN, only one has SSL enabled. On my iPhone, in Safari, I have a favorite for one of the non-SSL sites, but when I tap it, it brings me to the site that has SSL enabled. With how I have subdomains in nginx configured, this tells me that Safari is forcing HTTPS for the site, even though I’ve triple checked that the favorite starts with http://

Any suggestions for why this is happening? It only started happening a few months ago

EDIT: another weird detail I forgot to mention is that if I tap-hold the favorite, tap Copy, then Paste & Go in the address bar, it goes to the correct site

This happened to a girl I knew that tried to make some money on onlyfans during Covid lockdown. Only lasted 4 months, even though she was pretty attractive. I think guys just assume that as a girl, you can simply post nudes online and make money, while it actually does require consistent effort, marketing skills, and a bit of luck.

TorrentGalaxy's release group GalaxyRG265 used to be my go-to for movie releases because I thought they were the perfect balance of size and quality. However, they haven't put out anything since mid December.

Anyone know what happened? I know the site has had uptime issues recently, so maybe they're focusing on that instead?

Lifelong football enjoyer here, but I can no longer stomach the NFL anymore. I realize the league is, and has always been, an entertainment business but they don’t even bother hiding the massaging anymore. They’re clearly feeling threatened by the fact that college football is more interesting now with the CFP and transfer portal, so they’re desperate for dramatic narratives. wilL iT BE A ThREEPeAT? wILL keLCe PrOposE to tayLOR SWIfT? dID wE MEnTIon TAyLOR swIFT iS HEre?

Anyways, good thing I got into rugby recently cuz it’s Six Nations time

I had the 3-pack with the original football, baseball, and soccer PC games. Put countless hours into them as a kid, so I’m super excited for these rereleases

I've been hosting Alexandrite as my main web UI for Lemmy because Lemmy's own UI is a bit too basic for my tastes, but Alexandrite hasn't been updated in 7 months and is still missing features like setting a default comment sort type. Can anyone recommend an alternative with a similar look and feel? I use the "list" view on smaller resolutions and the "cards" view on my ultrawide

I get it, part of the fun of AI images is being able to make several images in a single stroke. But there are multiple ways to put those images in a single post, rather than making a post for each.

Looking at you, vintage food guy

It’s pretty crazy that romhacking dot net shuts down the same day I finish playing through my first retro mod, but that is in line with my usual luck…

Anyways, this mod for Banjo Kazooie is absolutely incredible. It’s Banjo Kazooie set in the world of Ocarina of Time. The levels were cleverly designed, the Easter eggs kept me smiling nonstop, and every song was an absolute tune.

If you are a fan of Banjo, Zelda, and Nintendo in general, this is a definite must-play. Guaranteed to warm your heart

I have a UVC capture card that I use to play my Switch. Currently, I utilize it via the full screen projector feature of OBS, but the Switch is 1080p while my monitor is 4k and the upscaling that OBS uses causes some noticeable artifacts.

I’m wondering if there’s an application with some configurable upscaling options that would make this experience better. I don’t need anything crazy that would cause noticeable input lag, but anything even slightly better than OBS would be welcome

I see there are several different ways to install OSRS on Linux - flatpaks, Android emulators, Steam, etc. - but can anyone recommend the best as far as ease of setup? With lack of glitches being the second priority?

I have an AMD GPU that is quite recent (<5 years)

Pre-smartphones, my parents were always yelling at my brothers and I to stop texting at the dinner table.

Post-smartphones, it's now vice-versa and unless we remind them to put their phones on silent beforehand, their phones inevitably erupt in alarms at full volume reminding them to call Marianne back or whatever
