The first season of The Bear is shot on old lenses. I'm not sure if they are also using old cameras but the outcome feels really cool.

I think it fits perfectly and elevates the feel of the show.

I'm not sure about the newer seasons though.

I've been reading East of Eden (slowly I should really get on with it) by John Steinbeck for a few weeks.

While I am enjoying it, I follow two book media accounts that have each started a book that I own and have on my TBR. They are doing it for their monthly book club.

I think I will attempt reading three books at the same time but I don't think I'll be able to keep up. I'll try it as a personal challenge though.

"Dumbphone" price: $500

Edit: Years ago my phone broke and didn't feel like spending money on a new one so I purchased a prepaid $20 candy bar style dumbphone and used it for 6 months.

The only reason I ended up buying a smartphone was FOMO. Not necessarily because I needed one but because I felt like I was missing out on "things".

In truth, I don't know if I really was. I've had this smartphone for 5 years and I'm wondering what I'll do when this one dies.

In terms for units sold I would guess that this is probably my rarest book.

After that I think these would be the rarest.

None of these are difficult to purchase but they are fairly specific to their topics.

You tried to counter my "bullshit" but failed because you're wrong.

You're blocking me because you can't handle that I'm right.

Edit: That's fine honestly. It's one of the things I like most about Lemmy. You can block anything.

No, I am stating that ~30% of the population didn't vote at all. Which is the metric.

Not whether or not progressives did or did not.

I am saying to remember the people who allowed these things to happen.

[-] [email protected] -1 points 1 day ago

I'm not here specifically because it's a progressive community.

I'm here because this post was on my "All Posts" feed.

I had something I needed to say, so I said it. What I said is literally a fact.

You were offended by that fact and are trying to belittle me by stating I am certain things. It won't work.

I find it strange that I have more upvotes while you have more down votes. Even in a place that you consider your community. I wonder why that is.

[-] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

When did I say that I was anything?

I'm putting blame on the people responsible for the current situation. So people don't forget who to blame when things get worse.

When the people responsible for things getting worse decide "this wasn't what I voted for" or "I didn't know", it's on the rest of us to hold them accountable.

[-] [email protected] 33 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

This is what nearly ~60% of the country voted for.

About ~30% directly and ~30% indirectly by not voting at all.

Don't let them say otherwise.

Edit: Looks like I hit a nerve. If you voted for Trump you voted for this. If you didn't vote then you also voted for this. Do better.

Weather is now more unpredictable.

Last year we had a May where nearly everyday hit 100°f. That usually doesn't happen until August.

This year we had a storm that dropped 15" of rain in one day. We normally get 25" in a year in my area.

We've had two years in the last five that actually got under 32°f which usually happens once a decade or less. Many plants here can't tolerate that weather so they die.

Tornados in other parts of the country seem more destructive. They are also happening further East.

Hurricane's are also a problem for the coastal regions. My area hasn't been affected by them but I am expecting that to change.

Weather is more extreme on each end of the spectrum.

Super Green.

Where can you make recommendations? Also, how do we know which movies have already been watched so we don't recommend them again?

I'll just leave them here.

District 9(2009)

Killers of the Flower Moon(2023)

Snowpiercer(2013)

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)

Aggression is bred. I don't see this as funny.

Cast Iron Brownies (lemmy.world)
submitted 3 weeks ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

These are from a brownie mix.

I did add 1/4 tsp sea salt, a pinch of instant yeast, 1/2 tsp instant coffee, 1/4 cup of chopped pecans and ~2 oz of chopped dark and milk chocolate.

It came out great!

I've been wanting to make 100 Hour Brownies but I'll test them at 24 hours for the next mix.

I felt like making something other than Bacon and Eggs for breakfast and realized I had a pie crust in the freezer.

I didn't have cream, cheese or onion so instead added some melted butter, onion and garlic powder.

Place eggs, salt, pepper, paprika, cayenne, onion and garlic powder in a blender to mix. Cut the bacon into squares and add to the blended eggs along with the melted butter.

Dock and blind bake the pie crust and then added the egg and bacon mix. Baked until done at 325 f.

I’ve made multiple versions of Quiche Lorraine and honestly this isn't’ too far off.

It's been a while since I've grown anything. With everything that's happening in the world I decided to restart doing things for myself.

It's a little late in the season so let's see what actually grows. Enjoy!

I'll only eat three of these and save the rest as snacks for other days. I'm currently losing weight so this is just an easy way to curb my appetite.

Fill a pot with water, add salt and bring to a boil. Add eggs and cook for 7 minutes. Remove eggs from pot and place in cold water until cool. Peel and eat with prefered seasoning. Enjoy!

Just some chicken thighs cooked in a cast iron skillet.

Seasoning is herbs, salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder, paprika and cayenne.

Just chicken thighs in a Lodge 10" skillet. Seasoning is pretty basic with, herbs, salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder, paprika and a little cayenne.

Update: I decided to remove the smallest piece to cook after these.

Another free download, check your local laws to verify. Enjoy!

"Set on an island off the Scottish coast, To the Lighthouse minutely examines the fleeting impressions of a large cast of family, friends, lovers, and hangers-on. Who can we be, Virginia Woolf invites us to ask, if no one can ever know our hearts—if they’re unknowable even to ourselves? To the Lighthouse remains one of the most important Modernist novels, exquisitely composed by one of the most gifted writers of the Modernist movement."
