That's as long as they've been alive!

Hey, Mr Owl...

[-] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 14 points 7 hours ago

Maybe. Like I said, I don't know for sure that I'm right, and I'll admit it's totally strange behavior for a normal adult man, but I do think there's a chance that we're injecting our own perverted assumptions on something we can't understand.

[-] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 22 points 9 hours ago

Yeah, I can see that if you define inappropriate as "against societal norms". I intended the word to mean abusive or sexual in nature.

I have a theory about Michael Jackson. First, a little background for reference. I am not a fan of MJ or his music. I respect his talent and what he did with it, but it's not really my style. Also, I was a child when the accusations started. We all heard and told the jokes about him diddling little boys. I have no reason to root for or against Michael's innocence.

That being said, I don't think he did anything inappropriate.

I could totally be wrong. I wasn't there and I'm not going to claim that my theory is undeniable truth, but after watching a few of his interviews, I noticed that he never acted like he did anything wrong. I get that someone without remorse would act like that, but typically they know what they did was wrong, and they lie and sneak their way around any implication of involvement. Not MJ. When asked about his "sleepovers" he never denied them. He consistently said "Yes, I did invite them over for sleepovers. Yes, we often shared a bed. We would stay up late watching movies and fall asleep in the bed. That's what a sleepover is." It didn't feel like a predator denying abuse. It felt more like asking a ten year old how his sleepover went. They'd tell you honestly what they did, if they slept in the same bed, and wouldn't think anything was weird about it, because they're just kids.

Combine that with the abuse he suffered as a kid. His father treated those kids like a troop of trained dogs. Constantly practicing, constantly performing, always bringing in more money for the family. Michael was a superstar around age 6, and did not slow down until he was an adult, away from his dad and performing for himself.

I think that Michael Jackson never really grew up. He named his ranch Neverland, from the story of Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up. I think MJ felt like HE WAS Peter Pan. He had no childhood, and never developed like the rest of us. He was a 10 year old mind in the body of an adult. I don't think the amusement park in his backyard or the pet chimp were bait to lure children in, I think he just really wanted to live in an amusement park, race go karts, and hang out with like minded children like any insanely wealthy pre-pubescent boy would. Many of the children he hung out with have said that nothing happened, including Macaulay Culkin, who was his bestie for quite a few years. Even after MJ's death, he said "He never did anything to me. I never saw him do anything. And especially at this flash point in time, I’d have no reason to hold anything back. The guy has passed on. If anything - I’m not gonna say it would be stylish or anything like that, but right now is a good time to speak up. And if I had something to speak up about, I would totally do it. But no, I never saw anything; he never did anything."

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe Macaulay was groomed and helped MJ abuse other kids and cover it up, but I think Michael was just a emotionally undeveloped abuse victim trying to reclaim the childhood he never got to experience.

Nothing stopping you from going TRUE handsfree and using your nose or tongue to turn the page.

I'm with everyone else, if it was probably just a brain fart moment, let it go. If it was a situation where he thought he knew what to do, but was wrong, it's probably worth teaching him the correct way, but it really doesn't sound like that is the case.

More like a wolf dressed like a wolf that acts like a wolf and talks like a wolf but points at the sheep and says "Those are the wolves!"

I'm really leaning toward zero, but I could see someone overreacting to the presence of the ant and hurting themselves in the process.

Just now, I'm standing on my porch, and I see a bird fly down to the sidewalk. She then walks across the street as fast as her little legs can take her. Once she reaches the other side, she flys off.

I laughed and thought "That's some shit I would do and have no idea why."

Avocado. Is it really so untasty or I am doing something wrong?

Avocado. I heard much about these fruits/berries/whatever. But I am a poor guy from a very poor and totally non-tropical country. So apples and carrots are the sweetest things around and apples become too expensive too.

Still I bought a few. Just out of curiosity. It tastes like... butter block. Internet says that it should be this way. So... Why people eat it? Maybe it is bad alone and\or raw, but after some preparation it is delicious?

Am I missing something?

As a kid, Diet Coke was all my mom ever bought, so I spent years getting used to it.

I dont drink much soda anymore, but it seems the last few times I've had a can of Diet Coke, it's just not good. It seems more bland than ever before. I don't seem to dislike any other sodas more than I used to.

Anyone else notice this?

I can't drop Xbox, it's what I have and I'm going to use it, but I did decide that I was not going to bend over for the new price tiers.

You can buy 3 months of Essential for $25. Thus lowering their revenue by $11.66 a month per person. If enough people do the same (or cancel completely if it's a reasonable option.) we can make them feel it in their bottom line!

This all started for me when Starfield came out. I couldn't get past the tutorial because it would crash within ten minutes of staying up the game. I never did get to play it. I had similar issues with Avowed, Doom Middle Ages, Oblivion Remastered, and now Borderlands 4. I called Xbox support and ift course they had me reinstall, factory reset, change Mac address, and all that, only to listen to me play for ten minutes before it crashed yet again. The kids can play Siege, Fortnite and Roblox all day long with no issues, but I can't get even get to the first bandit camp in BL4.

I know that most people aren't having this issue, but there is a significant number of people on Reddit complaining about the same issues on the exact same games. I barely touch my Xbox anymore because I'm getting frustrated with not being able to play any of the games I want to play.

Is anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions, solutions, or success getting Microsoft to give a shit?

Great news everyone! I've just been offered a position to remotely train an AI and I can make up to $6000 a day!

Yeah, right.

I'm in the middle of a conversation with someone who randomly instant messaged me. I like to play dumb with these people and then occasionally throw some obscure questions at them and watch them squirm, or just toss subtle insults in my replies.

Anyone else get a kick out of messing with these scammers? Any particular shenanigans you like to throw at them, out any good stories that have come from it?

22 years ago (has it really been THAT long?), we got rid of this law.

I think everybody should wear a helmet every time. Not wearing a helmet is extremely stupid and dangerous. I've known lots of people who have riden without a helmet and have been fine, but I also had a cousin that died that way.

That being said, this feels like a "protect me from myself" or "we'll decide for you, since you can't be trusted to make good choices." law. I think I'd rather it stay the way it is, let people make their own poor choices.

I'm curious what others think.
