There’s an Italian restaurant in Denver (Gaetano’s) that was opened in the 40s to give the mob wives something to keep them busy and to launder money. The mob is long gone, but the restaurant is still pretty popular.
My former rowing partner was one of the people blinded by eye drops before these safety standards were established. I’m sure she can vouch for how not-a-big-deal this is after losing her job, marriage, home, and almost her life. Fuckers.

Granted I’m only on the first episode, but it struck me as intentionally using liminal space almost constantly.
Why didn’t they text? Cultural norms aside, texts usually go through more easily than calls in spotty areas. But yeah, I’ll take hypothermia and exposure over answering an unknown number any day.
I cut my sister out of my life and didn’t go to her wedding for similar reasons. I don’t regret it one bit and it has helped my mental health tremendously. However, I didn’t do it to “teach her a lesson,” or “prove anything,” I did it so I could live with myself, and stay true to my values. We all only have limited time and energy on this planet, so think about the way you spend them and what’s most important to you. For me, my biological family is toxic. My chosen family is awesome.
