I wouldn't say I'm filled with joy but Iran cannot not retaliate against Israeli attacks. The Israeli government won't accept any sort of negotiation that isn't unilateral demands that leave them in a superior military position and free to continue genocide.

I doubt it will, but I hope this is a wake up call that Israelis need to stop electing theocratic racists fascists and participating in the state's program of genocide.

Fuck around, find out as it were. I'm sorry your homeland is under attacks, and I think it's fucking disgusting that the west paints Iran as some rogue secret isolationist state and Israel as the heavy hearted noble soldier defending themselves from the rabid masses that hate them for just no reason at all.

This fucking article is pissing me off so hard. Not a shred of empathy in it, not sure if it's the interviewer or interviewees but Jesus fuck. Do they fucking understand that their friends, parents, and children are currently doing worse to Iranians and Palestinians right now? People who will almost certainly have never served in a military killing in their state's name.

Do they understand that? That other people have a right to live without fear, to feel secure that there is a bright future for their children too?

I just feel a deep connection to this occupied territory you know? It's so nice to be able to do something positive insulated from the blood and horror that me being here requires. It's like there's ancestral blood in the soil calling to me.

Some residents of Israel’s commercial capital, which has a population of around 500,000, have left their homes to stay with family outside the city. Others have stayed, fleeing to shelters at night, which is when most of the missiles rain down. “The fact that you don’t know if the missiles are about to fall on you, that we are now living with this feeling of helplessness, it’s insane,” said Ella Keren, a nurse who was with her two young daughters at a Tel Aviv playground Tuesday.

😔 😞 😐 😬

But the conflict that began last week feels different in both scope and scale, some Israelis say, inspiring either hope that this era of insecurity will finally change, or fear that Israel may be stuck in an endless cycle of war.

may be stuck in an endless cycle of war

may be

╮(︶▽︶)╭ who could possible know

“I don’t want to go to sleep, because I don’t want another thing to happen,” she said. “But I also feel like, for the first time, this escalation with Iran offers a glimmer of hope, because it is a big move, and it could lead to a big change, and maybe, maybe, it is a unique chance to build a more long-term defense.”

War is bad unless you win, then war is good? haha jk unless...? 🤨

Irish satire outlet.

Come on you guys, don't just eat the onion. You're supposed to me more media literate, you can't just ignore reality when you see something you want to be true.

There are so many indications the subtitles are fake. You have to believe some insane things about the world to fall for that.

Worth mentioning it's not clear what portion is useable right now, while their sites are under bombardment. Most likely though they can go toe to toe for a long time.

The counter attacks are showing remarkable retraint so far, which is interesting.

That's fucking hideous. Nobody should feel euphoria about killing, at best it is a regrettable necessity.

What a fucking feral person.

[-] [email protected] 20 points 2 days ago

Yeah, bleak as fuck.

[-] [email protected] 35 points 2 days ago

I'm really hoping the phrase "the euphoria was short lived" is an awkward translation, any maybe more akin to excitement or optimism. Although even a gentler phrasing makes it really fucking hard to remember that everyone dying is a person as real and complex as those I hold beloved.

That does actually tell you where because only usaians are arrogant enough to think that would be meaningful.

Nobody else on the planet is like this and so it does tell you it's the USA. This ticks me off because it deserves to be met with mockery.

If you don't know where the original York with any precision idk why you would think I'd know much about the sequel.

Veganism seems to fall so obviously out of leftist beliefs, there are definitely other ways to get there but even if you are a speciest animal ag is so wantonly destructive, intensive, exploitative, colonial, and abusive to human workers not being against it is a big question mark.

I want to be charitable to people, I understand that deprogramming yourself can take a while, but when people have been aware that veganism is an option for months/years without taking any material steps... I dunno, are you just a treatlerite mad you don't have enough treats?

Has anyone had any real progress making other leftists they meet vegan? I've only managed to get three people to permanently adopt the philosophy in my life. None of those were particularly leftist, just justice sympathetic.

edit: I actually want to hear from other vegans in the vegan comm. Shocking I know.

My wife and I have been exploring film from various times and places. She tends to prefer actiony/adventury films that aren't bleak while I am insufferable and maudlin, adoring self indulgent wallowing moodiness.

She found the rate of cuts of man with a movie camera too offputting, and has ruled out stalker because it's relentlessly depressing. Aside from dead season which isn't good but is funny because of history, and come and see which I wont be traumatising her with I don't know any soviet film. You weirdos might.

Any recommendations for showing the best or most interesting of? Things that are either high quality or showcase a unique character due cultural differences. It can be weird!

Love me some Gothic horror and god damned if I wasn't satisfied. Gorgeous, had a bit of fun addressing some of the more problematic trappings of the genre in how it treats women.

Remade some of the amazing shots from the original film, maintained a fantastic creeping horror and dread, lots of truly disgusting practical effects, and some original and well realised additions.

Absolutely fab.

I've mostly played EU4 but recently have discovered the dlc is much cheaper than expected^[For legal porpoises I will not specify how much cheaper] and it's been like 3 years since I last played^[this footnote is ornamental].

Viccy 3 and crusader kings 3 weren't out last time.

So which is the best atm to lose time in?

edit: thanks for the recs. Ck3 seems to slap now

So there's this thing people do, it's harmless enough, but it also sort of hints at a completely incoherent style of thinking. It is absolutely unfair to judge people by random shit they write casually, after all I write like 3 geeked out baboons stacked atop one and other and yet I am a noble and refined rat.

Nonetheless I'm a judgy shit so I do. Ok so the thing? It's when people use a quote or situation from fiction as a predictor of what will happen in reality. A concrete example from earlier today paraphrased:

p1: I think blah blah thing will happen

p2: Ah but remember men in black? a person is reasonable, people are dumb panicky animals

me: teakettle noises

The causality is utterly confused, MiB cannot be used as evidence, it is written that way because the writer wanted a character to say that. It's possible a writer wanted a character to say that because the writer believed it to be true, but it's also possible that it was included for many other reasons.

screeeeeeeeeee

Anyway, share your thoughts. Also your own ridiculous rhetoric irritations.

The NPCs (petite bourgeois) inside keep threatening to call the guards when I loot things and they run away like townsfolk if I draw my weapon.

French noises: the game is blowing up and not without good reason. It's beautiful (awful flickering hair TAA artefacts and weird gormless facial expressions aside), the story is more mature than the usual slop gamers settle for, the style is shamelessly traced from persona five's notes but with unique aesthetic flair. I am a known "video game stories are mostly actively a negative addition" hater and I've been moved to tears. Shit slaps.

I just have one question, what is the point of all the hours you are meant to spend holding down sprint running backwards and forwards through a sequence of empty corridors waiting to find the next actually interesting thing? What does it add? The best defense I can think of is that it gives you time to listen to the great music?

The pacing is whack, it's banging fight. 5 minutes twiddling a joystick and occasionally pressing X, banging fight, 5 minutes twiddling, amazing fight, story beat, time to stop having fun because the overworld section is next!

Can someone please explain?
