Who is funding these appeals?

Liberty Counsel (lc.org) of Orlando, Florida is. They receive around 5mil in funding per year from assorted grants and donations. Their donors aren't disclosed and they don't have a public 990 on record since 2015 and their last 990-T was from 2018. Here's the documents, but you might need to FOIA for more current info.

This doesn't mean that the case (Ermhold v. Davis) will be heard by the court. All that's happened is that Libery Counsel, a right wing legal group, submitted a writ of certiorari to the supreme court. The court gets ~8,000 of these per year and only hears around 100. I doubt that anything more comes of this, but stranger things have happened.

The Respect for Marriage Act kind of codified it. The issue is that court rulings override congressional statutes, executive orders and the constitution itself (although that's a little more rare).

It's always worth pointing out that the cycle of any tech company starts with a low-cost service that gains marketshare while using VC money and reinvesting most to all profit back into the company, then transitions to operating off user money and squeezing users for money. OpenAI is still in the growth phase and will only switch to the squeeze when they have a stable enough lead over Google and Anthropic so lost marketshare isn't as much of an issue.

He would almost certainly face the death penalty in China.

Jack Ma, famously not executed, does similar things with Qwen and Alibaba in general.

This allows for less distorted text rendering that doesn't have as many typos or oddities. It's not the highest quality image generator itself, but it handles text far better than any other model.

I tend to use DuckDuckGo most of the time, but its quality has collapsed considerably. Google is terrible now and only worth it for reverse image search. I haven't tried Brave much and SearX-NG was a pain to set up for being a de-facto Google and Bing wrapper. There's Kagi but I don't really have $120/yr for a search engine, nor do I want to deal with how they handle logins and session management.

I drafted up a scrambled connection of thoughts on obsidian that I wanted to post but it was too long, too personal and too incoherent.

All that I really have to say is that the endings ruined me (I savescummed for all of them), I don't think I can hear a piano and violin together for a while but the worst ending my far was the phone ringing which I got on my first attempt because I thought it was what Basil and Sunny deserved. The photo album sequences (not the truth one, even though that was masterfully done) drove me to tears a couple times because I have a photo album of a family member who passed and it reminded me of him.

Otherwise, I don't think I'm supposed to resonate to Omori as much as I did. I have an incredibly fuzzy memory of my early teenage years (I didn't kill my sister, however) as well as spending a good chunk of that time aimlessly daydreaming (probably not maladaptive). Playing this game did make me think about a couple things from that time that I haven't forgotten, but I just prefer not to think about them and haven't in years. I don't think it's trauma, but it isn't a pleasant memory. I could also be exaggerating it in my head because my memories from that time are flimsy. Also, in the final fight with Omori I noticed that most of his lines were things I thought about Sunny earlier in the playthrough, which probably isn't ideal.

I'll let you know how orange Joe tastes.

Also, tangentially (sh2 spoilers)
