Roman Starovoyt, the Russian Minister of Transport, was dismissed yesterday and found dead in his car hours later.

He died from a gunshot wound and a pistol previously awarded to him by the Ministry of Internal Affairs was found in the car. His death is being reported as a suicide.

Before becoming Minister of Transport in May 2024 Starovoyt was the governor of Kursk. His successor was arrested in April as part of an investigation into the embezzlement of funds to be used to fortify the Ukrainian border. It's being implied that his dismissal and subsequent suicide were related to his time as governor of Kursk.

Ukrainians didn't "hold their pride march in a subway".

10 minutes after the 2024 Kyiv pride march started the marchers were dispersed and ordered onto trains by police in response to a large and violent right wing counter demonstration. The Ukrainian right has organised violent counter demonstrations every year since it's inception in 2012. They regularly prematurely end the march and have hospitalised dozens of marchers.

Violent crimes against queer people are not legally considered hate crimes in Ukraine. The punishment for assaulting a queer person is often just a small (less than 100 Euro) fine. The main goal of Kyiv pride is to change this.

"russian bombs" did not cause this, but they haven't helped. There are very few safe places for internally displaced LGBTQ+ people, especially those from Kharkiv and Donbass. They find it harder to find shelter and work than other IDPs, and are subject to heightened rates of physical and sexual violence.

Peter Dutton, Leader of the Opposition from the Hard Right wing of the Australian Liberal Party lost the federal election (current count is 41 seats to 81) and his own seat in Parliament 57%-43%.

He is the first leader of the opposition to ever lose their own seat.

Jason Steen isn’t middle class. He owns a massive media business and despite that, has been arrested several times because his hobbies include wage theft, posting about wage theft, bragging online about how rich wage theft has made him (see above) and drunk texting his highly educated employees taunting them about wage theft.

He’s obnoxiously ostentatiously bourgeois.

Every time we chat, I'm the one who turns the discussion turns towards capitalism. He’s the one who hesitates when I say we should kill them all. Now, he's not even okay with torture. And I'm not talking random chuds here. I'm naming names like Bezos, Musk, Ben Shapiro, and Andrew Tate.

I say we should force them into an abandoned mineshaft and wall it up. After a month we open it again and if any of the fucking parasites are still breathing we tie them down and let rats do to them what they did to their colleagues. Let them learn the error of their ways. (After the revolution of course. During it many of these fucks will die easy and I’ll be sad).

His current job is extremely cushy. He has good hours, he's friends with his coworkers, and he's making a living wage. So I get his hesitation. But it’s also scary. I don’t know if he'll have my back if I get in any trouble.

I don’t know if I should be gently turning him towards imagining a slow and painful torture of capitalists or not. Am I being too extreme or is he a lib?

You may even wonder if you were rude in the debate, if the way you replied to a comrade may have hurt his feelings. I'm usually very careful about this. Whenever I have to criticize a comrade, the first thing I do is try to protect him to keep the criticism from being destructive, so it won't demoralize him and so, while serving as an example for others, it commits and stimulates him.
