We switching to Fluxer

[-] super_user_do@feddit.it 1 points 18 hours ago

Ohh stoat is based in the UK, which isn't exactly the best in terms of privacy

[-] super_user_do@feddit.it 1 points 22 hours ago

Stoat's great issue is that development has been stagnating for the past like 5 years. It's bad because it doesn't have a sustainable business model (which Fluxer has by the way) and also because it is based in the UK

[-] super_user_do@feddit.it 1 points 22 hours ago

Idk what you're talking about since Fluxer is based in Sweden

CLA

Updates on the CLA thing Apparently Hampus (the developer of Fluxer) stated that he's removing the CLA completely

[-] super_user_do@feddit.it 6 points 2 days ago

Really fair point, but I think some compromises are necessary to keep the project financially sustainable. Stoat is incomplete, it's not federated and has shady development practices. Also, vc barely works and it's unreliable as heck

Its amazing bro for real, if you want you can join our community and see how good that is with your own eyes

[-] super_user_do@feddit.it 1 points 2 days ago

I think their business model is sustainable without massive privacy breaches like discord did in order to satisfy the investors. Its nice because its a really indipendent service that's also planning to add the ability for everyone to host their own decentraluized servers

Do you want to join the community i am building with a friend? Its a community about the fediverse

Hello everyone! After Discord's new CEO came to power, I think its now time to find a viable discord alternative. I figured out that fluxer.app might very well be the best one so I decided to make a community about the Fediverse on there

Fluxer is a discord-like application that also aims to bring decentralization by making users able to host their own Fluxer instances! There's a lot of potential and I think we should support the project. If you want to join, here's the link :D

EDIT: So guys, about the CLA thing.. Hampus (the Developer) removed the CLA completely so now the software is released under plain AGPLv3, which is really nice! Here's my source

Bro it might even be worse because they gotta watch your every move to implement this shit. I'm moving to fluxer.app

I love Wikipedia (feddit.it)

I absolutely love Wikipedia. It has almost replaced a good chunk of my school books back when I was in high school and it is still very useful now that I'm in university. Wikipedia and similar things are a dream that comes true

Hello everybody! I was thinking of switching from GNOME to KDE Plasma on my laptop. The main things keeping me from switching are

  • Touchpad Gestures
  • Dynamic Workspaces

Since I have a pretty beefy machine, dynamic workspaces are more an optional than anything but if there's something unnegotiable to me, especially for a laptop experience, is the touchpad experience which must me at least viable. So what has been your experience? Please I need your opinion

Yes, that's why my distro of choice is Linux Mint lmao

I shot this pic with my phone of the time, which was an Oppo A74.

The pic is unedited. What do you think?

Hello everybody. I'm planning to get my first camera body and lenses but I'm not quite sure on what lensens to get. I think I'll get a LUMIX DMC-GF1 which I can find for fairly cheap prices so I can spend most of the money for some good lenses.

What lenses would you recommend me buying? Is there some kind of "general lenses" I can use without having to switch them according to situations? I'm very new and confused by all the technical terms and stuff

I'll go straight to the point:

  • Piracy is useful to bypass regional frontiers and access to censored content
  • Piracy is helpful to watch content without supporting it if you consider it not worth of it
  • Piracy might be helpful for content preservation and survival
  • Piracy is useful to ACTUALLY evaluate whether to spend money on some digital content or not
  • Piracy is sometimes the only way to actually own DRM-protected content

It's time to teach them we can actually build a free, open source and popular alternative to their dystopian monopoly!

Hello everybody! I'm a student who wants to start building android apps, but i'm noticing that android development is so structured and overcomplicated to learn that i'm loosing any hope. Could anybody of you explain me the basics? I'm not talking about code, but how to manage the IDE, what do we have to learn etc. Any advice would be highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Which one would you recommend? I'm currently on the default instance but I want to support smaller instances for the sake of decentralization

EDIT: I'm noticing a lot of you guys are telling me about Lemmy instances. That's not what I'm looking for! I'm looking for a Matrix Chat server!

Still, I will take that Lemmy instances in serious consideration. Thanks!

Damn I made a post in the gaming@beehaw.org complaining about Battle Royale games and I'm happy to notice that posts on Lemmy now have actual engagement!

Actually even more than all the posts i've made on reddit since there's no algorithm meant to close us in fucking echo-chambers

I hate battle royale games. Every time I play them i get anxious and nervous, I cant take it anymore

I have played Apex Legends since it came out and I have about 900h between both steam and origin (mostly played during covid).

Since I stopped playing this rage games I feel much better

Tell me what you think of battle royale games in the comments if you want
