Burnout 3 or burnout 4 as the goat? I lean 3 because of the radio, but 4 had better mechanics (shunt takedowns ftw)
Burnout 3 is definitely the first great burnout game. Those first two felt like PSOne games. But I love 3, Revenge and Paradise. 4 did add some cool things though so I would say that probably is the best since it really expanded on 3. Paradise is great too, but it's mostly the same stuff just open world.
Might be a hot take, but I didn't think anything added in the sequels after 3 improved the game.
Not that Revenge is a bad game, but 3 is just much better and for some reason they made it much harder to take down opponents in road rage.
Paradise is a bad game.
The jump from 2 to 3 was big, and the jumps between the rest of them weren't as big. How was Paradise bad though? I know on PC its kind of a shit show because it seems to not work on Steam or something, but on Xbox 360 it was great and it was well reviewed.
They made it open world for no reason other than it was the style at the time, and it adds nothing of value to the game. In the first version, which I originally played, you couldn't even restart an event, you had to drive all the way back to where the start is, which tells you how much they put thought into designing the open world.
The one thing the open world brings to the game is having to choose which route to take, which absolutely sucks ass because it's not fun and if you miss one turn, you might as well restart (in the original version, have fun driving all the way back). Crash mode was also removed in favor of the bouncing car thing, which is boring and way too easy. I will give them credit for making takedowns in road rage much easier than Revenge and de facto removing traffic checking, but that's about it.
