We have this discussion every year It’s because of the tv network they’re on. aus-delenda-est is an occasional contestant and 🇱🇧🇲🇦 have been on it to.

Yeah, but it's not like they've historically been a part of EBU. They are the newest member, only joining in 2017.

They've been in it since the 50s, just that they relaunched their public broadcaster in 2017.

iirc there was some posturing about kicking out britain after brexit though

edit: i looked it up and i think it was actually just right wing tabloids trying to claim that the big scary EU was trying to bully britain over it leaving but it was basically invented out of thin air
