I didn't see anyone mention it here or over on blahaj and the first I've heard of it was from a massive lib I know that just recently came out. So I was wondering.

Ironically, no cis person seems to be aware of transgender awareness week before it's already on the news. I really do not see how this can be a co-opted event, this isn't a pride month main attraction that corporations latch onto for some cheap pinkwashing, it's a small number of trans people freezing their asses off while they hold a candlelight vigil in shitty November weather. Yes, people itt rightfully criticize that liberal activism stops at the awareness stage, but that doesn't mean you do not need activism aimed at creating awareness, it just means you should ultimately move beyond it to organizing and finally action. Given how incredibly ignorant and actively disinformed people are about trans issues, i wouldn't outright discard any awareness campaign around a trans issue, particularly not one that centers on remembrance of those who've been violently taken from us by transphobia.

Also, i'm kinda worn out by this idea that people here only love their trans comrades. My support of trans rights isn't conditional on somebody being not a lib, trans rights are human rights and are non-negotiable.
