Can someone explain what exactly is this? I have no idea what I'm looking at.

As best as I can figure out without doing any research...

A fan of a voice actor has decided that they are in a relationship with the VA's character (yumeship). They therefore want the VA to dump their real girlfriend, and they want the VA to also delete pictures of themself they've posted, because the fan is jealous that other people can see their "fictional other" (like significant other, but you know, fictional).

The fan expects the VA to do all these things because an AI chatbot based on the VA's character said they would.

Shame they can't rig these chat bots to trick these people into fixing themselves. Be like "Hey, let's take a shower and go outside today" or "how are your job applications going?" but I guess them getting their shit together wouldn't be good for engagement...

There was a study done about that. They set up an LLM with guardrails to gently guide climate deniers toward science. it had a relatively high rate of success in the near term.

Fun. Makes you wonder if the big AI players aren't already subtly doing this already to steer their users in other directions...

That's a fairly wild Wikipedia photo isn't it? Although it does explain an awful lot.

    What, this?

That's literally my room after I clean up for the picture.

It's only clean within the visible light spectrum.

Yeah, parasocial relationships can do that too.

    What is a parasocial relationship?

It’s when people think they have a relationship with someone they don’t actually know. Usually celebrities, but basically they think the target is talking specifically to them during their performances.

I think its also used to describe the more sane version of it that goes like:

"I know personal details about this persons life from watching their YouTube channel for years despite the fact the I'm a stranger to them, and that's kinda fuckin weird to think about."

I've fallen into a old school version of something like that where I'd read some writings by someone for years and now I'm in a position where several acquaintances know them personally. Which is awkward as all hell.

The thing about even the sane version is that you have to keep in mind you only know the face they publish, not the actual person

No idea about the top half, but from the last message I think this guy has made an LLM emotional fleshlight wearing the skin of WillowVA.

I assume this guy is to 4chan what 4chan is to normal people.
