I'm skeptical. If you look at the places where the writing crosses whatever those streaks on the flap are, you would expect to see some kind of breakup of the writing, but it either just weakens in intensity while remaining perfectly well-formed or (more bizarrely) inverts.

Small section of the post's photo which shows supposedly handwritten text inverting when passing over a streak on the plane's flap.

That’s how it looks it you wipe whiteboard marker from a greasy whiteboard

[-] invalidusernamelol@hexbear.net 16 points 3 days ago

It's also how it looks when you use a color invert pen in Photoshop or Gimp

[-] Salah@hexbear.net 11 points 3 days ago

But then the inverted color would be visible in all streaks which it isn’t.

It's definitely not easy to tell if it's totally fake or not. It has the vibes of someone doodling in mspaint, but parts also fit pretty well with the image? Even if it is fake, I think this is pretty close to the actual on the ground sentiment anyways.

Not a lot of "hoorah let's get 'em" from anyone right now.

I’m opportunist so when I can’t tell whether something’s real or fake I’ll defend the truth that benefits my political goals.

[-] invalidusernamelol@hexbear.net 9 points 3 days ago

That was kinda why I gave up lol, even if it's fake I don't really care. It's still funny

The perspective changes too accurately from one end of the wing closer to the camera to the other end further away in my opinion. I think it's legit.

Yeah, to me it also looks fake and things are off dean-sussy . Idk I'll eat it if I'm wrong but zooming in and looking at it this definitely looks like an overlayed drawing, unless American soldiers have a wide selection of dust immune markers, or fingers that behave suspiciously like markers. Also the spacing and height would seem kinda awkward right? I would be more surprised if this was real things are just off.

Yeah the more I look at this I call bullshit!!! I'm eatin NOTHIN' dean-smile

lazy stretched re-projection Without the perspective it's less convincing, or I somehow convinced myself it's not, WHATEVER OK:).

It looks like it was black written on top of white. Like grease pens or something? Or grease that dried white? So when the black was smeared off, it left the white?🤔

[-] ZWQbpkzl@hexbear.net 4 points 3 days ago

A smear wouldn't leave a void where the letter was maintaining its legebility. This is pretty easy to call AI slop.

Like you wouldn't let people fuck around with your ailerons. That's one of the last things you want soldiers doing hangman doodles on.

You're what ailerons are

A smear wouldn't leave a void where the letter was maintaining its legebility.

That's why I'm saying it's not a void, it's dried grease. The dirtier stuff smeared off, the cleaner grease underneath remained. Dirty white lithium, for example, would do something like that.
