This article on what Google claims it has done/will do with its AI is extraordinary for all the wrong reasons.

Here’s a sample:

We’ve made extraordinary progress to deliver on our full AI stack.

What ‘stack’? All you have is Gemini which can’t remember what it said yesterday, can’t open a spreadsheet, can’t even get a frickin’ Family Guy quote right!

the Gemini app reached 950M monthly users

Wow! What a way to scam people out of money and data.

At the same time, there’s never been a more important moment to shape the future of AGI and science

Oh boy, where to start with how wrong this one is…

And that’s only a sample of the content of this ludicrous thing…

Yes I am wroth with them. The assistant app works for everything I actually want to do with the stuff in my house. I don't want to have a conversation with my speaker, I just want it to play music. I want the tablet thing in the kitchen to show me the cute weather frog, and set timers when I ask it to. Google assistant handles that, in English or Spanish, has good voice recognition and consistent results.

Gemini is both too smart and too dumb.

I am just going to give up voice commands, honestly. Can set a timer on the kitchen thing using my phone, send music to the speakers same way, hopefully never activate the freaking AI.

Exactly: not only is AI not intelligent, it’s completely unnecessary and a waste of time, money, resources, etc.

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
