CENTCOM Update on Recently Fallen U.S. Service Members
TAMPA, Fla. — Yesterday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the passing of two U.S. service members and the missing status of one in Jordan following an Iranian attack on July 17. After a thorough search, U.S. military personnel found unidentified remains at the location earlier today. An examination process to verify the remains is ongoing.
Separately, a U.S. service member in northern Iraq was killed in action July 18 during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone. A second service member was wounded and continues to receive medical treatment for a minor injury.
CENTCOM is withholding additional information, including the identities of the missing and fallen warriors, out of respect for the families during the notification process.

Ok so they've stopped evacuating bases presumably because getting hotels blown up doesn't appeal to the local country and they're getting hit with "you're using human shields". Either that or their ability to detect incoming has been vastly deteriorated. I guess the deaths will start racking up then.
The main reason the US avoid deaths is good early warning systems allowing them to pull troops out. They lose important facilities but not the personnel.
From the footage I've seen, it's defence degradation and also just troops straight up going
as missiles hit.

I think it is more this than the other (but some of both). Iran took that advantage on day 1 of the conflict, warning sirens in the footage ive seen are noticeably absent. Plus they used older munitions at the start of the conflict, so with the "eyes" degraded or absent and the weapons getting stronger, the US is all the more at a strategic disadvantage in the second phase of this conflict.
