AI and social media are both shit and are both addictive.

But I think one reason for the AI-hate on social media is that the people who spend hours a day talking to chatbots and generating images, those people are not also spending hours a day on social media.

You pick up your phone for no reason. What do you open? What's your source of shitty low-quality conversation? If it's a chatbot it's probably not a forum, and as these addictions are deepen, the AI users stop voicing their opinions online because they're busy talking to 1s and 0s

That's why I believe genai like chatgpt and deepseek are just the next step in the algorithmic alienation that started with for-profit social media

I have heard slavery defined as a person removed from their social context and I believe that is the end goal of this total atomization.

A definition of slavery ought to refer to the process of slavery, the social relation of exploitation and coercion that maintains the process. I don’t think it can be reduced to just the kidnapping

iirc it's deliberataly reductive since the process can vary significantly based on the form of slavery. This is where I heard it if you want the context.

Thanks, I listened to it and found the given definition:

Slavery is the enduring, violent domination of natally alienated and inherently dishonored individuals (slaves) that are controlled by owners (masters) who are permitted, in their social context, to use and enjoy, sell and exchange, and abuse and destroy them as property.

This expanded definition does include details about the social relation of slavery, so not too reductive like I had thought before. Like the host, I think the insertion of as property is dubious, but that's a scholarly quibble for those guys to hash out.
