There aren't many non Muslims who would try to use Sharia law..
Most Muslims don't have anything to do with the extreme version pushed by the Salafis.
They use use regular laws and systemic oppression in the white, western world. There was a time in the white western world where only good looking, single women could be flight attendants. There was a time in the white, western world, that my grandmother remembers, where she wasn't allowed to have a credit card without a husband or father to co-sign.
Oh hey, it's the guy who was banned from the women's com.
Was I? I literally cant keep track anymore lol
Meanwhile, in the middle east, even good looking, single white women still have to cover up everything from head to toe in 120°F weather.
I'll pick the law set that at least acknowledges its faults and isn't 2000 years behind the times.
Where do you live that the legal process isn't corrupt and biased? Besides, it isn't a matter of choosing between bad and worse. The only reason any system has progressed is through recognizing the faults and pushing, sometimes violently, for change.
This is especially important because, as we've seen in the U.S, we can lose rights much more easily than gaining them.
It's not black and white. It's a gradient.
You seem to be arguing that the Muslim-controlled countries are somehow the same as the western world, because where Muslim countries would fallback to religious dictatorships and Sharia law enforcement, the western world replaces that with "regular laws and systemic oppression".
I'm arguing that the sort of worldview lacks a metric fuckton of nuance. Muslim-controlled countries are still centuries behind the times of free and democratic countries, in terms of social moralities and minority acceptance.
Yeah, that's not my argument.
I'm arguing that brown countries are over stigmatized as backwards when it comes to women's rights, when white countries aren't as progressive as people would like to believe, and we still have a long way to go.
If by "brown countries", you mean Islamic Sharia law countries, then they are, by definition, backwards when it comes to women's rights. Afghani women's rights groups were just starting to claw back modern social norms before Trump fucked it up and gave the country back to the backwater assholes that we call the Taliban.
We should stop accepting their beliefs as just some harmless extension of their religion, and call it out for the oppressive bullshit it is.
Why the f would it be worse if they're good looking?
I was just mirroring the previous poster's comments.
